Jdubgt530
Not sure what is going here, I got pulled over last night and cop told my tail lights were out but were fine when I hit the brakes. He was right. So far I have checked fuses on the interior fuse box, wiring and bulbs. Everything checks out. Oh and my turn signals on the headlights and my license plate lights aren't illuminating. I even checked my parking switch that is on the top of the steering wheel. Anyone have any ideas what to check??
vinylscratchp0n3
The brake lights have dual filament bulbs (one filament for when the headlights are on and one for when you're braking), I'd check if one side is burned out. Though with all that wrong at once, you might have a short to ground somewhere.
johnegg
yes, check, remove the brake light bulbs, one at a time, to identify the problem. also, turn on the ''virgin'' switch on top of the steering column. this should turn on the parking lights even when the key is out of the car. this may determine if it's a supply problem or not. the head light switch and the virgin switch both turn on the park lights, they just approach it from different angles. i THINK both circuits use a switched ground to complete the circuit. this is a no-no in house wiring, but apparently common in 12v car systems. but i'm no expert.
