RumbleRumble
It's definitely not piston slap. I took my timing cover off and i noticed my belt moving side to side. Next week im heading down to my buddies shop and were gonna tear into everything and figure it out some more. I'll be replacing the tensioner just cause and my clutch cause its the original one Also when i rev the engine from the throttle cable when the knock happens I can feel it. RumbleRumble
I have no choice. I've put over 5k since the noise has been happening on and off.
SpecFast
If it is a rod knock, remove the wire or harness clip to cylinder #2 to verify that it is from that cylinder. Once removed the rod knock shouldn't be heard. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

It's crazy because I just hit 60k, and I put in a new head gasket, timing belts, water pump, fuel pump etc etc and bam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GPzN2CQqdo

phantommaggot
Mine is getting worse -_- I got on it with the engine steth and even when it's warm and I can't hear any ticking/tapping/knocking I can hear a lot of noise when I put the steth right here.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/phantommaggotxxx/02%20LGT%20wagon/IMG_20160617_123818728_zpsclxmxggc.jpg~original
RumbleRumble
Hmmm not to sure. that is that back of the motor (clyn 4) was it ever ran out of oil or low? Also put on the cylinder head and on the bottom of the block in the same spot.
RumbleRumble
It's spark knock. I filled up on89 octane and use a bottle of octane booster and it cleared it. Im gonna run tons of seafoam through the vacuum and some FCI in tank.
RumbleRumble
The seafoam didn't seam to do a lot. I ran three bottles through the brake booster vacuum line.. Octane booster does seem to help a lot, but higher octane gas doesn't.
Tashi
I have this exact noise in my ej251, and I've put 30,000KM on it, including drag racing, tracking, towing cars (Don't judge me.) and generally beating the piss out of it constantly. So, I don't think it's fatal, but it's not a concern for me, as when this blows, I have an excuse to finally get my body harness made and finish my sti swap.
