Jdubgt530
So my computer is a 4n 2261 ac990 and on Subaru parts online it says 6x 2261 ac991 is the replacement for it. Just wondering what everyone's opinion on it is. I mean the Subaru parts online says its for my Subaru so I'm sure it would be okay.
johnegg
imho, your ECU is not bad. this is just a calculated guesstimate, but the RARELY go bad. is this about the mis-fire problem? what is your car doing? why do you think you need a new computer. and since they rarely go bad, there are lotas of them avasil;ble and i good working order. so IF, IF, IF, you do need one, you are crazy to buy a new one. and if you have even a .001% doubt it is the computer, you are betterr to test a used one, $$, rather than a new one, $$$. the 97 will run fine on a 96 - 97 ECU, which model does not mattewr. all that matters, that the ECU matches the wiring in the car. 96 - 97 have the same wiring harness. 98 is different. the car would run, but you would get ''ghost" trouble codes for evap purge flow. 95 is WAY different. so what is wrong with your car? Jdubgt530
A misfire code that is not caused by anything that is ignition related or mechanical created. Everything is in great working order, even when the misfire code pops up. The code changes to different cylinders and sometime says that there are no codes at all. When it pulls no codes it resets the monitors and the whole system. My lgt drives completely normal when it pops up. No rough idle or bogging. That's why my mechanic said that it could very well be my problem since this happened before and after I did my heads and everything that I have changed out on my car that could be causing the problem.
