Groundskeeper Willy
Didn't find an exact answer to my question in the search. 2001 GT Limited with stock gold mesh wheels. Need new tires. Would like a little extra width. Will a 225/50/16 fit? Thanks - Bill
gimpydingo
That's a tall tire. What's the width on the rims? At least 7"?
Groundskeeper Willy
Tall? Read again. 225/50/16 is almost identical in diameter to the stock 205/55/16. It's the extra width that I'm asking about.
NavigatorsLegacy
I changed my stock wheels and tires for ZERO PLUS SIZING on a 2011 Legacy from OEM of 205/60/16 to a 225/55/16 with no issues. Didn't lose any MPG...car handles better...I used this website you should check out...http://www.willtheyfit.com/... big question is what is the exact width of your rims? Proof (...the pic or didn't happen...) http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/15/47a0b3ada862860d8f0d6ba6507413b6.jpg
Giffle
It depends on the tire specs. It seems that they allow 6-8" width, but I would choose 7" minimum width to be sure. What you have to do is to look at manufacturers specs. For example, take a look at this tire... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport+COMP-2&partnum=25WR6GFSPC2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

I just meant the sidewall. But it is a 16" so extra sidewall may be good.
