r31oh
hey guys, Im about to do an ej20t swap into my legacy. I know the stock cross member wont work because of the headers on the turbo engine. Does anyone know if a set of equal length headers could work with the non-turbo cross member? I would much rather blow money on a new exhaust system instead of another cross member. monkeyposeur
The stock cross member doesn't work because the downpipe won't clear, not necessarily equal length headers. Most commercially available equal length headers for turbo subarus only work if you have an sti oil pan, which would also require the Sti baffle, dipstick (unless you notch a Wrx dipstick), and a new oil pickup tube such as oem Sti, killer b, or a moroso oil pickup. You can cut a notch in your stock crossmember for the downpipe to clear.
r31oh
sweet, thanks man! does cutting a notch weaken the cross member? its just going to be my dd, not doing anything too crazy with it.
monkeyposeur
It probably weakens it a bit but not enough to worry about. It's not gong to hurt anything.
