Fake Outback
I installed 265/65 16 tyres on some Subie snowflakes. The original tyre size was 195/60 15. My question is, do I replace the speedo or the speed sensor to correct for the new tyre size? Overall diameter now is 26.49" which is close to stock 96-99 Outback size (overall diameter of 26.3"). If I could just install the speed sensor from a 96-99 Outback that would be pretty nice. But will this work?
johnegg
the speed sensors are all the same, speedos too, mostly. the speedo drive gears in the trans make up for the difference in tire size. so unless you are willing to swap your trans and rear diff to make your speedo more accurate, you cannot fix your speedo. or replace the tires. Fake Outback
Thanks, johnegg. Figured it would be impossible and now I know for sure.
