FtsTexx
Hey all I'm Texx! This is Jade, my 03 Legacy L. I have big plans for her. I'd love to see her lifted and trail ready in the near future, but I'm a noob with Subarus and cars in general. So I'm reaching out to get some advice from the community http://s24.postimg.org/3zmrvwbsl/20150531_182119.jpg This is all new to me but I'd love to learn as I go and do most of the work myself instead of taking it to a shop. First question. I'd like to lift it about 2-3 inches. It sits at 26" from ground to top of wheel well now, but I'd like to have more clearance for trails. Can I achieve this with stock Outback springs? Any other suggestions?

FtsTexx
Any chance this thread can be moved to the 3rd gen thread? I'm not sure why I posted on the Legacy Pics forums :\
2point5GT_Dan
On the 00-04 Legacy/outbacks, the difference in height is NOT from the springs. It is from the struts. There is a one inch difference between legacy/outback struts. The outbacks also shim the driveline down an inch using spacers. You can lift the legacy on outback struts and it should be fine. I found one of my CVs got noisey under WOT with an outback lift. You can also get one inch strut spacers to shim down the struts as well. You can fit bigger tires with the outback struts but NOT strut spacers (the front tires will hit the spring perch on the strut, the outbacks get away with bigger tires dude to the longer outback struts. I have personally done outback struts and measured the changes so this info is verified and not just guessing.
2point5GT_Dan
If you are actually interested in going fast on dirt, a lift will mess up your alignment settings unless you make some changes to the whole car. With a compromised alignment the car will handle worse. I ran the same winter TSD back to back. One year with the lift and one year without, the better alignment when not lifted allowed much better control at higher speeds. If you just want to fart around in first and second gear and crawl over stuff, alignment does not matter as much.
FtsTexx
Well I'm only really trying to get the clearance. I do a lot of gravel/ dirt driving, but the lift would really just be for getting in and out of trails. I'm not too worried about being able to rally it super fast. It's still my Daily Driver lol. FtsTexx
Did my taillights on Monday. It was super hot when I started and some of the adhesive unattached from the vinyl :\ I knew it wouldn't look perfect at that point so I had fun with it and cut out the reverse/ signal markers and reflectors.. not too shabby for 2nd ever Vinyl tint! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/05/93fd9d031c4398d82398734395602194.jpg
FtsTexx
Finally got these Crosstrek wheels on! It's raised the car a bit and even offset my spedo by about 5mph [emoji28] It's noticeably higher while driving, but there's a bit of rub on bigger bumps. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/22/814504f22e882ac1bfe2c94789288e17.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/22/fd99bd9acc8137057a0a26e1241dc6b5.jpg
