MTGTLMT00 Posted April 8, 2015 Share Posted April 8, 2015 My father has a 2005 Subaru Legacy outback wagon, It's the non-turbo 2.5 4cyl engine, Manual transmission. We've discovered that's already tough finding finding the right parts for, Because of it's year. We've already had trouble finding spark plug cables and other misc parts.... But now we are in the market for a new transmission it seems. It blew the rear seal out, leaked all of it's fluid... We had a shop replace the rear seal... And it's still leaking quite badly. The guy at the shop said that the rear main bearing is probably shot, which is killing the seal. So my father just wants to replace the whole transmission, It also has over 250k on it and needs replacing. So we are wondering, Because it's a 2005... If theres a super-specific transmission it would need? Or will a specific year work just fine so long as it's manual and the symmetrical AWD?
