Nissan speed sensor experiment (5EAT)

I found that my front speed sensor was broken. After days of searching for a used one or a new replacement (without spending $300+ from Subaru) I decided to try to fit a $17 Nissan sensor.

Using Google Images I found a sensor that looks just like mine with a different connector and ordered one. I ended up getting what I think is the correct pigtail from an 05 Nissan Altima at a salvage yard. If I have to order a new harness anyway I'm not scared to cut the factory one to splice in the Nissan pigtail.

I'm waiting on the sensor to arrive so I can't say this works yet but will post updates.

It may or may not work but I figure its worth the $22 to find out. I just hope it doesn't fry my TCU or something.

Well it didn't work. I left my key on and may have fried the Nissan sensor while I was doing the wiring.

Another possibility is that it just doesn't work.

Yeah. I've seen many posts of people asking about replacing just the front turbine sensor without having to buy the harness. I have also read that the sensor alone was not available but I was able to find it although I am waiting on the complete harness.

I believe that I read the Nissan sensor required 5 volts while I was reading 12v going to the sensor.
