Winesalot
my daughter's 95 legacy sedan awd has a bad front wheel bearing according to the local tire shop. I plan on making the six hour drive with truck and trailer to bring her and her car home from college for spring break and fix it myself. I have been reading this forum and like the advice of buying a complete bearing assembly / knuckle / spindle but am a bit confused as to what I actually search for on car-part.com. The prices referenced in several posts here say the price should be under $50 but I am seeing closer to $200 which leads me to believe I am looking at the wrong item. Thanks in advance for your clarification.
Park
I think that $50 would probably be for the bearing alone. When I replaced on on my 97, I think that including taking it to a mechanic's shop to have them press it off (about $30?)and the new one on, it cost me a total of about $100, much better than the $300 I was quoted. You're going to need a seal as well. http://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/wheel-seal-front/subaru/legacy/1995/4-cylinders-6-2-2l-mfi http://www.autozone.com/suspension-steering-tire-and-wheel/wheel-bearing-front/subaru/legacy/1995/4-cylinders-6-2-2l-mfi?filterByKeyWord=front+bearing&fromString=search
