30th Anniversary Wagon Rebuild

Recommended Posts

I'm starting my documentation of my Legacy Wagon rebuild.

Yesterday, went to the junkyard and found a barely picked 95 Legacy Wagon and got the Hood, Front Fenders, Hood, and Driver's side door for about $260. I also got the headlight for the driver's side, but it is the wrong on. I guess the 99 has a 2 piece headlight/side marker setup.

Hope you all enjoy the pictures:

I was forced to remove the condenser as when I pulled the radiator, it ruptured it. Oh well stuff happens when doing a rebuild. The condenser was bent on the bottom so it would have had to be replaced eventually.

30th Anniversary Edition Badge. I need to get this off so I can reattach it cause I can't find them anywhere:

Finally got to pull the damaged area out today. Did it very carefully with a puller. The top of the radiator support is nearly straight where it needs to be. The headlight socket is about an inch off (vs. 4 inches off) from where it needs to be. Next things to do are to pull the lower radiator support mount straight and move the frame rail to the proper angle. Currently it is sitting at a 25 degree angle facing downwards. Progress coming along. Pics when it is light outside.

I finally got the front end straight, have some after pics of it and a video I took of its first run since the Stage 2 XTR Clutch install. The front end is mocked up with the parts held I'm place with zip ties until I can pick up the front end parts my grandpa prepared for me. I will hopefully be throwing them on some time this week. I do need to get a new drivers side headlight as the one I bought was for the 95-97 model and is a one piece and I need a two piece headlight.

Recent update: Got the front end pieces over the weekend. My grandpa did a really good job prepping the hood and fenders. There is a slight gap on the drivers side of the hood. Noticed my his hinge is bent and with have to either get a new one of bend it back. New drivers door was installed last night, though I am having issues installing the window. I can seem to get the window to go into the tracks. Any ideas?

for the window, theres a lengthy procedure for getting it in and adjusted correctly. i was able to get mine in and on the tracks by setting the back first, then the front edge, but never did do the adjustment to make it actually work correctly, so now every time i rollit up it scrapes the window glass on the triangle corner by the mirror. hellish sound, lots of damage to the glass and tint. theres a sticky in the 2nd gen forums for the FSM that has the whole procedure listed in it, worth a read to get it working correctly.
