spazlamhaslam
I'm trying to lift my LGT a few inches and I'm having some people tell me that 09 and up FXT suspension will do the trick… I don't believe them… Do you? Does anybody know a reasonable way to do this without buying an outback? What is every component I would need? I've searched all over the place and I've seen things that say that it will work and I've seen things that say it won't, is there anyone who really knows what's what? Rhitter
Why don't you just use an Outback suspension? My OBXT build
spazlamhaslam
I would do that but I've heard only the outback sedan will work, those are are hard to find. Mostly I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row before I start buying a bunch of stuff.
alex0856
I know LGT suspension can fit into an OB, so I don't see why you couldn't go vice-versa.
Rhitter
Yeah - that's wrong. Any 2005 -2009 Outback suspension will work with your 2006 Legacy. You might need to look into the Outback body lift spacers to adjust with the driveline to compensate for the extra ride height so your cv axles don't explode. Leviman
Find someone in your area looking to lower their outback, set the two cars up in a garage and get swappin. My outback is riding on jdm lgt sedan suspension, so it certainly swaps.
whitetiger
you can just buy new kyb/exel replacement outback struts on tirerack.com. you keep the other mounting hardware and all you need is springs. you can probably use your oem springs so you arent too jacked up. spazlamhaslam
So just to be clear, outback wagon struts and springs will work with my LGT sedan? And body spacers might be needed also?
Rhitter
Yes. Read this but backwards http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/lgt-wagon-suspension-swapped-into-outback-xt-140548.html People commonly shove outback springs onto legacy GT struts to get a little bit of height (but less than an Outback) This for the body spacers http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/info-ob-gt-suspension-geometry-removing-spacer-180579.html My OBXT build
Leviman
Body spacers are used in the outback, so to go full outback you'll need the spacers. However, they won't lift the car at all, only correct geometry. They will also slightly reduce ground clearance.
Claw
Here's '10 Legacy struts on a 13 Forester: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f70/sh-forester-lowered-legacy-takeoffs-125346/ He needed spacers... you should go OBXT suspension instead. I have an extra set of 05 LGT wagon suspension.. I should try fitting them on our 14 FXT this summer.
