headlights

Sooooo I'm sick of looking at my amber cornered lights. Doesn't have a very clean appeance to me so I want to Chet clear corners and use switchback LEDs. Now I've researched this aton amd found all the DIY threads, but I found a pair on eBay for 300 that are brand newa and blacked out with completely clear corners. ( http://m.ebay.com/itm/2005-2006-2007-SUBARU-LEGACY-amp-OUTBACK-DEPO-BLACK-CLEAR-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-/310742464527 ) now my question is, is it worth the 300 to get these new, "factory sealed" clean, "perfectly painted" headlights or should I try the dDIY method? My lenses are pretty clear I cleared them a couplemonths back bit they arent perfect. Also is the clear corner the same after you do the DIY method vs the set I mentioned above? I understand 300 is a lot but I am a fan of new clean shiny parts so I'm honestly torn.

I bought a set of these a couple months ago. They are nice quality and I like mine. Some people say the Depo lights are not as good as oem but so far so good. And the clear corner is nicer than the DIY method

Thanks for the pics. I really like that, and its same color as mine. I thought the clear looked better because it still has that "rough" piece in there just clear instead. Do you have just amber bulbs in there? How's the brightness during the day? Also what grill isthat lol ive seen a few diff ones that are all similar

Yes just regular amber bulb. They are just as bright as oem lights. I actually bought the HID set of lights and have my DRL's disabled. The grille is an AVO. But do not by one they are junk. R-REV makes them also and they are much nicer and fit like a factory one.

Good to know. Do you know if the switchback led will work for side markers with this? I was reading there's ck and non ck sockets and I didn't know which we had. Does any modification need to be made to wiring besides load resistor?

I think I'm going to do the diy method. My buddy did the ones on his sti and it came out great. My driverside is already leaking a bit I can see where the sealer is failing. So I'm gunna try it myself. Figured I could spend the 300 towards the roof rack I orderedordered. I've put about 1500 into her in the past three weeks :x

Mine are diy. Took 2 hours start to finish. Using the satin paint worked best, still allows turns/markers to be almost as bright as stock. Just get some clear silicone adhesive, when you reseal them, keep the factory adhesive there, and just spot place the sealer where it seems lacking. Can never have too much! Lol

Is it like three pieces when you take the headlight apart?Cuz I wanna still paint that flat part blackthen just have the dome part where the bulb reflects stay silver. I got switch backs for the turn signals so hopefully that takes up anybrightness issue. Wouldn't gloss paint reflect more? For the black on the inside.

Also I just re read your first post..You DID leave the yellow side piece in correct? Just painted that center section black? I plan to paint that black and remove the orange side marker... I wouknder if they sell clear corner inserts like the depo ones have so IRS not just straight open clear.

Yeah, after you bake them, separate the lens from housing, and the part that is painted black, is held to the lens with 3 or 4 torx (star bit) screws. It comes out, and after removing the amber corner piece, you can just paint it completely. We have it easier than the WRX guys, they have to tape off what they don't want painted, ours just comes right out 👍 200° for 7-8 minutes works perfect, I've done 3 sets with those settings and they've come out perfect every time. If 200° is iffy to you, you could go 185°-195° for longer if you like. Believe me, it's an odd feeling sticking a perfectly good headlight in the oven haha. Results are more than worth it though (: if you need any walkthrough assistance, feel free to message me!
