I wouldn't want to try the 20G on a stock TMIC. Actually, even an upgraded TMIC will probably be put at the limit by a good tune on a 20G. An FMIC would be more efficient, but more of a hassle than I'm willing to put up with. Actually, the PDX stage 1.5T with 18G looks pretty good to me - +10tq/30hp over the VF40 on same parts. Should still be quiet with stock catback and within the limits of the stock fueling system. Beyond that mod point, the $/hp ratio starts getting high quickly.
