corlon Posted January 11, 2015 Share Posted January 11, 2015 so I've been having a hard time fueling up lately. I have to pump the gas as slow as possible as to not make itself shut off. after fueling up yesterday the check engine light came on about 5 miles afterward. went home and pulled the code. its a po446 (Evap Emmis Control System). cleared the code and it comes right back. I did a search for po446 and nothing came up on here. anyone else experience this issue or have any ideas as to what it might actually be? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
johnegg Posted January 11, 2015 Share Posted January 11, 2015 http://www.obd-codes.com/p0446 this is a circuit problem, often this means a bad wiring or a bad connector. the charcoal canister is under the car, right rear corner. it is a black box with a couple of hoses and a wire feeding it, or near it. check the wires for corrosion and the connectors. and / or check the valve to see if it opens and closes as it should when power is applied. if stuck closed, this may / could cause the slow gas pump problem.
