Add remote start to factory alarm system 98 LGT

Recommended Posts

Probably best to have this conversation with your local autosound/security installer.

Yes, it's possible without removing the factory system, although I can't fathom why you'd want to keep that dinosaur. It's not a true "factory designed, factory installed" system. . . it's an aftermarket box made by Code Alarm and sort of shoved up under the dash and held in with wire ties and tape.

Current production aftermarket systems have better range, more features (trunk release, perhaps?), and generally work better.

if it is an alarm with remote start, you could disable the oem security and use the alarm security. if it is a separate remote start only, you can add it to the car with or without the oem security, and integrate it (or bypass) with any start kill the alarm is doing. if you want a longer, more in-depth answer youll have to give some more detail on your plans.
