Gbrown
Howdy! I'm going to change the front and rear differential oil on my 1995 subaru 2.2 legacy awd with the automatic transmission. Question is, is it okay to use a LS type gear oil like valvoline 80/90. The info on the bottle says it's okay for all hypoid differentials. I'm assuming the front and rear diffs are both limited slip. Answers? Thanks G.
johnegg
I'm assuming the front and rear diffs are both limited slip. this is incorrect. neither diff is limited slip. and there is nothing special about the gear oil. be sure to remove the fill plug on the rear before you remove the drain plug.
