Ryan
Did anyone find the aux volume quieter than the regular stereo? I'm using my old Droid Eris as a player for the aux, and I find it about half the volume as it should be. But it's clear as day, which is nice. Just wondering if its my mp3 player that is the limitation.
Lucid
Did anyone find the aux volume quieter than the regular stereo? Just wondering if its my mp3 player that is the limitation. When using the 30-pin iPod connector the volume is fine. When using the 3.5mm jack it is a bit quieter. I've had a series of rental cars lately, and have found that they are all quieter with a device attached to an aux in line with a 3.5mm, so I think that's common, even normal. Ryan
Nice. I might do that as I need to reburn a blank. Mine has a few skips after 50 mins.
cybaster
Nice. I might do that as I need to reburn a blank. Mine has a few skips after 50 mins. if you follow the other tutorial of using audacity, be sure to export it out to MP3. Also i think I did 32,000 seconds worth of silence (which took like 30 minutes to export) but the file came out to be 650MB or so...  of course you can also just do a 80 minute track, but i figure, why not fill the entire CD with silence?! jazzymt
Hey guys - just a little update - I'm shipping every few days right now trying to stay on top of all orders, but USPS will be dragging their feet by now due to Holiday shipping volume. I'll be packaging orders tonight and shipping everything current out tomorrow and these orders will probably be the last to make it in time for Christmas and maybe already will be late. Any orders that get made after today will almost certainly not make it in time, but I'll try to ship everything out quickly just the same. Happy Holidays everyone & thanks for the continued support. jazzymt
Hi Tom, The low volume is usually attributed to using a headphone jack instead of a true line level output. That's why I always recommend people to use a docking cable. If you're not using an iPod and there isn't a docking cable available for your device, your only other option is to use a pre-amp to boost the volume. PAC audio makes a couple decent pre-amps. You can also use a headphone amplifier as a pre-amp. Boostaroo and some other vendors make decent pre-amps, but then you have to power it with batteries usually . I'd recommend the PAC Turbo X pre-amp - that's what I used for awhile when I got my 2nd XM Radio setup & it was much quieter than my first install. SoloTSi97
I have the same complaint using a dock connector with both an iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4S. I think it was made worse when I added the ground loop isolator. It's not terrible, but I have to turn the radio up to at least 30 with audiobooks and even higher for Pandora. I may look into those pre-amp ideas, though. -Bob

jazzymt
hmm, good information. i am using an iphone with the headphone jack. you are correct.  is there an option to use a docking cable with this mod? i cant recall seeing a USB port on the little box thing JazzyMT provides. I sell a complete docking cable with the iPod kits that you can buy separately here: http://www.jazzyengineering.com/product_info.php?products_id=52 If you're already set up with wiring for the headphone jack though - it would probably be much easier for you to use something like this: http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pocketdock/lineout-miniusb.html That will still give you a true line level output vs. the quieter headphone jack levels.
