Fosgate
I have finally completed my after market head untit install after months of frustration. Everything works great, (My DVD, XM, IPOD) but the AM/FM sucks. I was at the drive in and I couldn't even get that station in. Since I still have my factory unit still in the car, (I put the deck in the cubby like other people) I thought I wonderif the factory unit triggers or supllies power to the rear winshield antenna, and sure enough I turned the factory radio on while in AM/FM mode and....... Voilà, perfect sounding am/fm. I searched the forum and did not notice anyone posting about this, so I thought I would pass on my experience to the rest. Antenna is powered. NutBucket
Yeah, most of the time the integrated window antennas require an amplifier of some sort.
c_hunter
Happens to a lot of people. I wouldn't have known either if I didn't read about it on NASIOC a couple years ago when the 04 WRX first got the in-glass antenna.
doogdog
From your factory harness connect the blue wire at pin #14 to the power antenna lead on your aftermarked HU harness. This wire is located on the lower left of the harness connector having the two middle blank spots on the top. You're going to want to leave this disconnect at the factory HU and connected only to the aftermarket HU. Rick
