mashLGT07
On my Legacy GT '07 Japanese import my Turbo has a burning smell when driven hard and get's stack at 5000rpm where it starts hesitating and cannot go past that. I have cleaned the MAF sensor and I have checked the banjo bolt.
chaz517
I would stop trying to go past 5k for now. Is it making any odd noises? Any check engine lights? Is it tuned? Stock? How do you know that it is the turbo causing this smell?
mashLGT07
Thanks for the prompt reply. There are no odd noises. No check engine light warning. It is not tuned, just stock. The smell comes up when I push it hard, that's why I assume its the turbo.
chaz517
No problem. Do you feel any surging or hesitation as it attempts to reach redline or does it abruptly cut off at a certain rpm? The smell could be oil or coolant leaking from somewhere, a lot of cars have a smell after driving it hard. I can always smell something after some good runs, but nothing too strong that ever concerned me. You have any white or blue smoke from exhaust? Go over all of your vacuum and boost lines and zip tie them all!
mashLGT07
Hi, Long tym. Solved my issue on hesitation. It was the plugs. The japanese model LGT ' 07 uses plugs that are compatible with the 3.0L american version (NGK:ILFR6B). That is where I was getting it wrong.
