mudskipper
Has anyone on here ever put outback springs and struts on their LGT? I'm looking for more ground clearance.
jqmello
I put Outback struts on my '00 Legacy GT. I also used some KING lift springs in the rear, because I wanted more carrying capacity as well as clearance. This is for moving things like gravel filled the tops of the wheel wells with the seats down... even then, not something I'd do again. Basically... struts fit fine, but only the rear springs. Re-use all 4 springs if they're in good shape. The spring seat on the strut body (shock body in back, strut body up in front) is higher on the Outback than the LGT. Swapping struts alone will give you an extra inch all-around. It'll look a little odd - the cladding on the Outbacks sort of hides how tall they are. Also, I went and swapped my tires out to Outback size because they looked teeny in the wheel wells. This makes my speedometer read low, and I'm thinking of changing back. Hope this helps! Get an alignment done ASAP after you finish, especially the fronts!
jqmello
P.S. Have a big cheater bar and a heavy friend to pry down the hub. The sway bar wants to return it to ride height. Make sure you block the car securely on jackstands. This is a 2-person job.
