rayeve Posted August 9, 2014 Share Posted August 9, 2014 Hi. Someone backed into my 2005 and did some minor damage to the front bumper and one fender. I don't see much problem replacing the front bumper cover, but I don't know what's behind it. I think I heard once that most(?) modern cars use a rod that extrudes through a hollow pipe-like arrangement to dissipate energy, and that one should always replace these assemblies if you've take a moderate to strong hit to the bumper. Does anyone know how the 2005 regains its shape after a hit? Are there these gadgets I've just described back there? Or is it just impact absorbent foam, or .....???? Thanks.
