Raz007 Posted July 28, 2014 Share Posted July 28, 2014 A few weeks ago we scored a great deal on a 1999 Legacy SUS Limited from a private seller on Craigslist. We were searching for a daily driver for the wifey, so my 2014 WRX wasn't our only method of transport. Wasn't looking exclusively for a Subaru, but sometimes life works out for the best! We happened across this car, and picked it up for a cool $1800. Here it is when we first brought it home: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f381/SGesel/20140715_183153.jpg First thing was a good tune up from our local Subaru experts: the WRXperts. They took great care of the car, changing oil, plugs, coolant, brake fluid, powersteering pump, and fixed our horrendous exhaust leakage. Car passed all the checks with flying colors, not bad for 214000 miles. Ran much better afterwords! Next up was some upgrades to the looks. The stock 15's were looking pretty horrendous, with the clear coat mostly gone, and the tires having seen better days. I happened to have a set of Rotas laying around that I had ran for a bit on the WRX, so I decided to do the right thing for my lady and get her some wheels. Turned to the local Subaru community, and traded them off for a set of 2007 WRX wheels with brand new tires. They are in great shape, and plastidipped black. Our intention was to strip the black off, but she likes the black wheels, so they'll stay that way for a while. Those wheels look cool, but that truck stance had to go, especially when you see it next to my WRX. So once again, my local Subaru community to the rescue! Scored a complete set of 2005 WRX suspension parts, from top hats to struts. Big thanks to the info on this forum, as it had me confident it would all swap in nice and easy. Truthfully, I just sat around and drank water, as the WRXperts did the heavy lifting again. Can't say enough good things about those guys! One alignment later, and this SUS is carving up corners like a proper Subaru sports sedan! Some comfy seat covers for the front seats (the leather isn't bad, but has seen better days) and the stock floor mats from my WRX gave the interior a proper two tone look to match the outside. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f381/SGesel/20140728_173905.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f381/SGesel/20140728_173846.jpg Next up might be some body work to clean up the rear wheel wells, as there's some rust, and there's a few dents that need popping up. We are also thinking about WRX front seats, as we dont need these heated seats down here in Ft Lauderdale. There's been some talk of a turbo swap too..... but that's just me (and maybe her) dreaming. All in all, this SUS is proving to be an awesome car, a throwback to luxury in 1999.
