datdookie
So my car seems to be slow in accelerating. Car: 95 Subaru Legacy L Wagon, Manual. Engine: 96 ej22 (single port) MSD Ignition coil. New spark plug wires & plugs. Slightly used K&N air filter. Looks to be new knock sensor. CEL: P0500.(that's the only one) Super high-flow cat with adaptor (old cat)h UEL headers. So I just got this swapped in after my timing belt tensioner bolt got loose (stripped out bracket hole) from my hybrid and bent my valves. Needed and quick and easy fix so I got this ej22 for cheap and swapped it in. The only issue im having with it is that its hard accelerate and it feels like something is holding it back.Took it on the highway once and it was tough to get to 60.Gas mileage could be better. My original ej22 wasn't this slow any ideas what it could be?.
Drakien
P0500 throws your car into limp mode. That is why it is sluggish. p0500- Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction Reset the ECU, unplug the battery, etc. If the code comes back. Replace the sensor. datdookie
Yep so that didn't do the job. I smell fuel. I think it might be the cat. Going to see if someone has spare I can test out
johnegg
check the knock sensor. a bad sensor will make your car very sluggish, it retards the timing to a ''safe'', no knock setting.. and if not installed properly even new ones can go bad. clean the block surface, angle it correctly, do not over torque. i use a little dielectric grease on mine for good contact. it is not the cat. they usually do not go bad unless you have driven it for a long time with a blinking CEL. i could be a dirty throttle body or IAC.
