brokentv
I have read up on this issue on a few different thread but never found much of a conclusion. I'm not sure how big of a deal it is but it is anoying. Every time I change my oil I put 4.8 quarts in and I have the 2.5 liter engine. The problem is on the dipstick the oil level seems to always be under the F mark. Could it be that the dip stick isnt the most accurate or maybe my engine needs 5 quarts lol? Stang70Fastback
The official capacity is actually 4.7. I know I've never needed to use the entire 5 quart bottle when I do my oil changes. Maybe you have a dipshit dipstick, lol.
johnegg
always read both sides of the dip stick. the user manual mentions something about one set of marks when you have been driving the car and another set when you have not. i do not know for sure, but if you read the manual it may tell you. brokentv
ok ill take a look at the manual again. I noticed each side of the dipstick shows different levels so ill check that out.
spooln30
Yes the dipsticks in our engines will have two different readings on each side. This is due to the dipstick going into the oil on an angle. I go buy the lower reading. I also put about 4.7 qts and she's all good. As long as you don't have any major leaks.
