fullmonte77
Is there an easy place to get a backup signal near the head unit?I do not want to run a wire the whole way to the reverse light. My car is an 07 2.5i.
SVXdc
Directly behind the HU, I'm not sure. Even if it's in one of the large bundles of wires back there, I don't recommend trying to tap in there. In nearly all Subarus, you can find the factory wire in both passenger's and driver's footwells. I recommend the passenger side, since it has a bit more room to work in, and you won't have to worry about keeping your wire from interfering with the pedals or steering column. See this post (for Imprezas and Foresters, but applicable to Legacys/Outbacks too). Find the thread here on LGT with "vacation pics" (or 'pix') to verify the size and shape of the interconnect harnesses that you need to look for on your particular model and year. (Hint: For your 2007, look for the junction of harnesses B98 and R2).
mrmegadeth
Running a wire to the reverse lights was pretty straightforward in a 2008 3.0R. Slips under the door sills easily and runs in the same wiring looms as the others in the trunk.

ERLoft
And you're running the OEM nav that you're sending the backup signal to? If so, you don't need to run anything from the back to the front except the video feed. (At least this is true if you've done the mod to get the OEM nav to work while moving) You just need to connect the camera power and ground to the reverse lights and send the video feed to the front where you'll need the correct Molex connector to switch it over to for everything to work correctly. 2013 █S4 - Glacier White - DSG - B&O - Tech Package - Sports Diff - Napa - RS4 Grille - Stasis Exhaust - APR Intake - KW Variant 1 - Stern Control Arms - CR-15 - Stasis RSB - Moog Endlinks - PC Hyper Black Peelers - Deval Front Lip - ECS Rear Diffuser - Carbon Imports Ducktail - ECS Mirror Caps - Relak Paddle Extensions - Autostyle Floor Mats - LED Interior - V1 - Blackvue DR900s - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
fullmonte77
No I do not have the OEM nav unit. I have replaced the factory radio with a double din Kenwood unit.
ERLoft
Aha, so you need the reverse signal sent to the Kenwood unit? You should be able to get that from the shifter area. 2013 █S4 - Glacier White - DSG - B&O - Tech Package - Sports Diff - Napa - RS4 Grille - Stasis Exhaust - APR Intake - KW Variant 1 - Stern Control Arms - CR-15 - Stasis RSB - Moog Endlinks - PC Hyper Black Peelers - Deval Front Lip - ECS Rear Diffuser - Carbon Imports Ducktail - ECS Mirror Caps - Relak Paddle Extensions - Autostyle Floor Mats - LED Interior - V1 - Blackvue DR900s - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
