scooby91
I just bought a 99 legacy 2.2 brighton phase 2 with a 5 speed manual. I was getting a bucking issue with the car where I would have my foot at a steady position and it would cut fuel and go to an idle and then give me fuel again. this only seems to happen when warmed up and it is random. recently it dropped a CEL and i got it read and tech said its the TPS. got another tps and it was wrong so i returned it and called another place and they also said it was a three prong sensor when mine is a 4 prong. http://i59.tinypic.com/zls139.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/2psna5j.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/j94h2s.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/nf1ki8.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/fbvl3m.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/9huz4z.jpg So is this some funky TPS that someone just jimmie rigged in there or do I have the correct one? in the picure of the wiring there is some shrink wrap tubing on there and it is actually two wires converging down into one. snederhiser
Hello; Thinking you have the correct one seeing how it plugs together. Just be sure to install per instructions in the FSM, Steven.
scooby91
I actually went and tried to find it and the auto parts store was saying it's from. 2002 2.5. So another question I know the intakes are the same on the phase 2 ej22 and ej25 but are the throttle bodies and the TPS the same if I buy one from the right year range. I'm almost positive someone hacked this up to make it "work"
johnegg
yes they are the same. it is not unusual for sensors to haver more pins in the connector, or room for more pins than actual wires used. the o2 sensors for the 95 - 98 cars have the exact same number stamped into the metal by the manufacturer. they each have 3 wires, but the front has a 3 wire triangular connector and the rear has a square 4 pin connector with only 3 pins. if subaru can use a part manufactured for another car company but just change the connector or chassis harness to make it work they will. if they have to have one made specifically for their car in order for it to work they will. check the link below and click on usage for each year group. they were used on both ej22 brighton and the ej25 brighton. http://opposedforces.com/parts/info/22633AA15B/
