lovedr79
First Subaru clutch done. 2005 gt. Sachs clutch. How long is this new clutch going to smoke for? Drives great. No slippage, engages fine. Shifts fine. But smokes......
Brian3676
I have never had a brand new clutch smoke.... Did you make sure the flywheel, disk and pressure plate was clean? The smoke smells like clutch or ?
lovedr79
Smells like clutch but could be spilled tranny fluid, I spilled more than a little.
iNVAR
You need to clean off the fluid with some sort of solvent. Carb/brake cleaner spray to remove it and then hose off the area. Then it should burn off quickly. Clutch should not be smoking, period.
lovedr79
i didnt think the clutch should smoke as i have done them on other vehicles, but i know sube's have a stinky clutch issue. it doesnt smell like burning clutch.
lovedr79
well i am an IDIOT! figured out why it was "smoking" then night i finished it up it was about 10 degrees outside, lots of exhaust steam. well i pulled the intercooler off today sprayed everything i could with brake cleaner wiped what i could off. started it up let it warm completely up i have a leaking down pipe gasket where it meets the exhaust pipe....... it did have a slight clutch stink but was not as bad as the first time i drove it after i put the new clutch in.
