mjpetty64 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Just got my car aligned and balanced and I was told they noticed a small oil leak coming from the front cover. This was a little too vague for me but it's all she could tell me. What does this mean?
Brian3676 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Pull off the timing cover and look where oil is leaking. Either oil pump/front crank seal, or cam seals.
spooln30 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Or all of the above. Also look at the power steering pump. Mine has started to leak a bit and the fluid works its way behind the t belt cover and if your just looking at the bottom of the engine you would think its the front crank seal or oil pump o ring.
Ivant Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 If the leak is coming from the middle of the front covers under the main pulley then you can bet it will be leaking from the crank oil seal. A common problem for the 2.2L engine. If it's not pissing out then it can be left for a while, as the leaking oil doesn't touch the cam belt. If it's just seaping out it's more of an annoying problem than a serious one. In my experiance anyway.
