Headbolt torque question

Recommended Posts

So for the past few weeks I've been rebuilding my ej255 due to a cracked exhaust valve. I just got the heads back from a full valve job and now it's time to reinstall. Well, it turns out I have a bum torque wrench that was working half way through the install, but when I had to retorque the bolts down to 50 ft-lbs the damn wrench wouldn't click. So I backed all the bolts out and I plan on starting over when I pick up my new torque wrench.

The headgasket is the only thing I'm worried at this point. Since I compressed while trying to do this the first time, do I need to use another new headgasket when starting over?
