jlrpink
So for the past few weeks I've been rebuilding my ej255 due to a cracked exhaust valve. I just got the heads back from a full valve job and now it's time to reinstall. Well, it turns out I have a bum torque wrench that was working half way through the install, but when I had to retorque the bolts down to 50 ft-lbs the damn wrench wouldn't click. So I backed all the bolts out and I plan on starting over when I pick up my new torque wrench. The headgasket is the only thing I'm worried at this point. Since I compressed while trying to do this the first time, do I need to use another new headgasket when starting over?
Brian3676
Well your supposed to tighten them all in order then loosen them all then torque then to the final torque anyway, so as long as you did not over torque everything I would say your fine. Everyone has there own opinion in this I'm sure tho.
