Kennyfvholla
What brand thermostat are you using? Non OEM ones have been known to cause issues. Have you purged all of the air out of the system?
99subigt
1996 subaru legacy Changed water pump, thermostat, timing belt Still over heats Anyone have any thoughts?. When my legacy overheated I changed the exact same parts and it overheated a second time, second time was worst cause it was in the rain and I did not realized that it was running super hot. So my bro machined the cylinders and changed the head gasket and problem solved
99subigt
Like the others say it depends on the brand of the thermostat too, I got one but it was not working right and it could be the radiator too and make sure all hoses are tight
suprastarr
I don't want to jack the thread but.... what kind of issues will a non-Subaru thermostat cause?
Kennyfvholla
Overheating because it does not open correctly. Either it doesn't open enough or it does not open at the correct temperature. No one can say for sure, but we've seen issues go away when a crap aftermarket thermostat has been replaced.
