pollycranopolis
Looking to install the OEM sub under the seat of my 07' 2.5i Special Edition. It has 6 speaker (4 in doors, + 2 tweets) and standard stereo/manual climate control layout. I've looked over some other posts and the setup seems pretty straightforward. - e.g. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/2005-legacy-sub-installed-yesterday-pictures-2084.html. My question involves the sub/harness models themselves. Specifically, is there any differences in model numbers for the oem sub, and the type of harness I need to take into consideration given my specific model year and option set? I've heard there are several different models of sub and harnesses which may be specific to certain years/option sets within the 2005-09 range. Any advice would be appreciated. chato
think the most important part is figuring out which radio harness you have. The under-seat factory subs I have seen all have a 14 pin harness connector. I believe 08 on have the 20 pin, so you may be able to just plug n play. If you do have the 20 pin, I successfully adapted a 14 pin to a 20 pin for my brother's 09 forester using a 20 pin breakout harness from SVXdc which I soldered to the sub wiring. Pretty much every bit of information you need on the factory harnesses are on SVXdc's website: http://ae64.com/ and pinouts for the factory sub here: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gr-ice-security/171660-oem-subwoofer-pinout-wiring-questions.html
pollycranopolis
Thanks. Mine is an 07', so I'm assuming it's 14 pin. I take it this would mean it's basically a plug n' play radio to sub harness, and good to go. I've heard there are differences between the sub models (80/120watt) any info on this? chato
yeah, if it is 14 pin it is the easiest install possible. not sure about various power levels on different subs. hadn't heard that before.
pollycranopolis
Just found one out of an 04' WRX for $80 w/harness. Might jump on it.
pollycranopolis
Got one of these installed. Sounds pretty good. Now I'm just trying to figure out out on what point of the corssovwer dial is 80, 100HZ, etc. Anyone have specifications for these subs? Frequency ranges?
