Dognuts
I looked at an 05 LGT for sale the other day with around 90k on it. It has headers up/down pipe and a stage 2. When I was checking it out there was an obvious oil leak/drip on the passenger side. I checked the dip stick and there was nothing on there. The owner looks for oil in the trunk then to my horror he started it. It sounded fine I drove it gently several blocks to a gas station, sounded fine and drove fine. It needed 2.5 quarts to the top mark. After filling up the oil we took it out and the car felt strong with out any obvious bad signs or sounds. He said it had been sitting for a month or so and it looked like it (family guy). Would you pass on it or still consider purchasing? How concerned should I be? I can fix cars but don't want to have to put a motor in it. Comments from experienced members preferred. TIA

lockmedic
Depends on if it was a screamin' deal or not. If under $4k and the rest of the car was clean/awesome, sure.
Dognuts
I was excited because it was close enough it was the right color and cloth interior but no it was not screaming deal. Thanks for the input I was on the fence but now think I'm shying away. The car is well used and the oil thing is too much of a potential issue. He's asking $7,500. the car was not cleaned inside or out. It had an exhaust/oil leak and would probably need all maintenance items replaced. The exterior had several dings including a good one on the roof. The interior had signs of wear all over the console and steering wheel.
_bookitout_
"I checked the dip stick and there was nothing on there" what were you looking for???? a dipstick can - at times - be like a fortune cookie an that stik was saying misfortune "an obvious oil leak/drip on the passenger side" and then "The owner looks for oil in the trunk" why you considering a possible purchase? if this was an ford escort would yu wan it if the guy found 20W-50 in the back bonnet?? Dognuts
That's why I posted so I could get confirmation. The ONLY reason I even considered it was because it's the interior/exterior combo I have been trying to be patiently looking for over months. Thanks
