rayeve
My wife's car (2005 non-turbo Legacy) has suddenly started using quite a bit of oil at about 130,000. Ordinarily, I wouldn't think much about this except it has used almost none between oil changes up until now. My first thought was "stuck PCV valve." So I go online to see how much one would cost, and I find a couple of suppliers who claim either it HAS NO pcv value, OR "it's only sold as an assembly with several rubber breather hoses attached." Can someone tell me: Does it have a PCV valve? (as seems likely to me) Is this info about the rubber hoses correct? and IF so, where is the valve and how to change it? Sorry for the newbie questions. All help greatly appreciated.
apexi
Here's a picture of where the valve is located on my 2009 non-turbo legacy, I would imagine it's in the same spot on your 2005 non-turbo. The factory service manual recommends putting liquid gasket on the threads when you replace it. http://home.comcast.net/~dsmphotos/subie/2.5ipcv.jpg Here's another thread on the topic http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/does-2-5i-have-pcv-valvei-151157.html?t=151157
