tocinoman25
Dumb question...is it even magnetic to catch any metallic debris? I always thought of getting one a few years back but hesitated since i wasnt sure of the magnet? GTEASER
You can put a magnet on the outside of the oil pan near the drain plug and leave it there all the time. That will hold metal fragments and shavings on the inside of the pan where the magnet is and when you drain it, just remove the magnet before the drain and any debris should get washed right out the drain hole. theflystyle
I also have had these in both my Legacys (with drain extension). I havent gotten one yet for the SVX as that car is a little too low for the nippled version but they make oil changes soooo much easier.
CorneliusJones
I finally got around to ordering the drain valve, and I just installed it last weekend. I am looking forward to my first oil change without some type of oil spill on my garage floor!
GTEASER
^^unfortunately the filter still pukes a bit when removed, but that can be remedied somewhat by spinning it loose over the pan and waiting for a few minutes to remove it. Custom Trendz Inc.
How much lower does it hang then the oem bolt? Looking to go a bit lower in the spring and worried about it catching something. Id prefer the one that has a hose attachment, but then I believe clearance would be the real issue. Drogos
0.5 inch? drain plug is not sticking out directly down either from what I remember
quick4dr
** to minimize filter change mess, brake the filter loose then take a red cup, place it over the filter and spin it off the rest of the way all drainage lands in the cup not on your hands, headers or floor. Then proceed as normal.
GTEASER
^^brilliant. I will immediately go to the pantry and abscond with all the red solo cups and hide them in garage for oil changes. Andyjo
0.5 inch? drain plug is not sticking out directly down either from what I remember I'd say less than that, the plug is at an angle in the first place, the nipple is about 1/2" long Regular Plug: http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o568/Andyjo07/1974_zps983257ec.jpg Fumoto: http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o568/Andyjo07/1975_zps9a5121b9.jpg Mine has ~100,000 miles on it... never leaked a drop.
