Arielgt93
Hey everyone! Now I've done my research I looked it up got a couple of answers. Does anyone have the oil pressure prosort gauge in their legacy gt and had to buy a sender kit for it? or another one that screws on the oil filter? Or the one drain plug that's underneath the top mount intercooler? I just want to make sure I got everything before I get around installing them and then next thing you know I'm missing more stuff. Thank you!
FJuan
I have a prosport oil gauge in mine. My sending unit is connected to the oil port next to the PCV valve underneath the intercooler. On the prosport website, they sell the sending unit for our subies as a kit, if you decide to to go this route. So, yes, you will need the gauge and a sending unit. My wife's balls are delicious. Arielgt93
Is it like a drain plug bolt where you take off with al Allan wrench and then their is like an oil feed line? But thank you for the help! I will go that route because I want to get around installing everything all at once and get it over with.
FJuan
Yes, it looks like a drain plug with an allen wrench fitting. Make sure the gauge comes with the sender, if not, you'll have to order one seperate. I believe mine came with the gauge and sender. Prosport sells the installation kit that has everything you need to connect from the oil plug to the sender. This is what I used. http://prosportgauges.com/remote-oil-pressure-sender-installation-kit.aspx It is a tight fit installing the connector plug underneath the intercooler, not hard, just a tight fit to tighten the oil plug fitting. I've heard it's easier to install the adapter plate at the oil filter and run hoses up to the sender. My wife's balls are delicious.
Arielgt93
Yeah I've heard about that it's a tight fit. I also heard about that adapter plate also but ill see what route I go with. Thank you again been really helpful!
FJuan
NP, I'll try and take a few pics tonight and show you my install, so you can see how it's laid out. My wife's balls are delicious.
Arielgt93
Yeah that'll be great! I really appreciate it. I looked into my box and found what seems to be a drain plug but with an electrical connector attached on the top and found a plug that connects to it. Could that be by sender? Arielgt93
Yeah definately helps out a lot, thanks. I'm going to post pictures up of what I have in the box to make sure I got everything if not then ima need to buy the sender kit. From what I looked, it seemed like I have the drain plug but not the rest. Ill still have to look through when I get back.
Arielgt93
Here is what I got with my oil pressure prosport gauge. Is that everything I would need F1InspiredLGT, to be on the safe side and confident I won't need anything else. http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj621/arielgt93/photo1-1.jpg here what appears to me the drain plug and it has an electrical sender. http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj621/arielgt93/photo2.jpg http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj621/arielgt93/photo3.jpg Guessing one of the senders. http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj621/arielgt93/photo4.jpg wiring. http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj621/arielgt93/photo5.jpg What connects to the drain plug. http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj621/arielgt93/photo1a.jpg The oil pressure gauge http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj621/arielgt93/photo2b.jpg And there is the drain plug that replaces the allan one in the block and the sender that connects to it is that right? Would I need to get a sender kit or do I got everything I need? Just to be sure.
FJuan
Looks like the only thing you'll need is the oil galley plug that the sender goes into. This plug replaces the OEM plug and allows your new sender to be screwed in. You have the newer style of senders, but it looks like the 1/8 fitting which is too small for the oil galley hole. You will need the subaru plug with the 1/8 internal fittings, which Prosport sells. http://prosportgauges.com/images/products/detail/OilGalleyPlug.jpg http://prosportgauges.com/subaru-oil-galley-plug.aspx Besides that, looks like you have everything else to complete the install. My wife's balls are delicious.
Arielgt93
Okay ill measure see if it's too small, but I guess I got everything except that one plug thanks a lot really appreciate the help. Is it hard to install gauges because with electrical stuff I'm really not good at I have a prosport boost and oil pressure gauge and also an innovate air fuel ratio gauge. I looked them up its just the wiring. But again thank you!
FJuan
If you have the instructions, it's pretty straight forward. It's just of matter where to place the wires. Some like to wire it up at the fuse block, some wire it up at other locations. I wired both my gauges up to the cigarette lighter (power wires) and ran 1 wire to the fuse block. My wife's balls are delicious.
