Death
I have a busted window... It busted because the trunk is smashed in a little bit making it crooked. anyway, the lowest quote we got from every glass place in the city is $450. They said because it is a "limited" that it is different glass. for some reason i completely disbelieve this. It's a BD body code, and I need an expert's opinion that isn't out to make profit from me. So, can I use regular legacy sedan glass in my rear window? If so, how do I get these people to back off of their price? http://i.imgur.com/ft4lPg8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Bn0TWg7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oHtqdmf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/76p5a4K.jpg
monkeyposeur
I'd think it would be the same glass for a non limited. The only difference between the SUS and the Legacy is that it has Outback suspension and two tone color scheme.
Stang70Fastback
The glass shape would be the same. Your car, as with my wagon, should have come with heated rear glass, which has those metal heating filaments across it. Perhaps the regular Legacy does not have a heated rear window...? The only car i have ever owned without rear defrost was a 1975 oldsmobile omega base model.
Death
ok so apparently I'm going for the $450 dollar cheapest option. my wife did all the calling around, so I'm not exactly sure what was said, but the place that we chose said that it's an old wive's tale that you have to wait a day before driving the car after it's replaced. interesting. I just hope that when we get there they won't be like, "oh, we ordered the wrong window and you'll have to wait several days and it'll be a thousand bucks". Kennyfvholla
There are only two different glasses that came on any Legacy Sedan in 99... One with a light green tint and one with UV tint. They both cost exactly the same. Retail cost is $370, while wholesale is around $290. Whatever BS they are giving you about it being a Limited and having a special glass is exactly that.. And non-OEM rear windshield and install shouldn't be $450, but maybe it's the area you're in... Either way, it's ridiculous. Tell them to put the non-limited, cheapest rear windshield they have in, and that you don't give a shit about the difference. Point out the damage to the car. Sludgeroo
I work doing auto glass and the reason is only a couple places make the non tinted and then the only way our shop has been able to get the privacy tint is thru fuyao glass or carlex.
