  1. This purchase the dealer warned me about after market windshields etc (they have coverage for 1000 bucks) and my insurance company says its no issue, we cover that. The dealer was adamant they have had multiple problems with after market products, insurance companies and I bet they have. However I did not buy the Subaru plan. My insurance company stated they insure thousands of Subaru's and all is good..... I know they partner with safelite..

He was trying to make a sale. Have aftermarket on my 2019 (after going through 2 OEM ones) and Eyesight works perfectly after being re-calibrated for the new windshield. No issues with it at all. Just need to see if it will hold up without cracking, it's only been about 10 months so far.

  2. While this doesn't directly answer your question, you might be able to just restart the head unit and not the whole car to get it back. I use Android Auto on my 2019 and sometimes it freaks out and I need to restart. You can do this while driving, no need to restart the whole car. Push and hold the power/volume button for 15-20 seconds, until you see the Starlink logo come up.
  3. And no, Subaru says you must you an OEM replacement on Eyesite cars and I've never seen or heard of an aftermarket company that will put any sort of aftermarket windshield in an Eyesite car.

Safelight will. I've got a 2019 and am on my 3rd windshield. First one cracked after having it for just over a month. Got it replaced with OEM and cracked again a year later. This time it was replaced with an aftermarket one. No issues at all with Eyesight. Jury is still out on if this one will be more durable than OEM, but it's at about 7 months so far.
