  1. flexible strut bar can be felt? uh huh, sure. If it could, your car would flex when you jack up one corner.

Keep in mind, the compliance in your 16 yo bushings and suspension components is going to be more flexible than a flexible strut bar. If you are not on super stiff race tires, you'll not even have the remotest chance of feeling the difference.

I bought the super blingy titanium strut bar. But it didn't make any difference. But everyone else could tell when I opened the hood.

ymmv. not an engineer. money makes everything better

I do feel the difference in cornering. Mind you, I have Megan racing coilovers, prothane steering rack and control arm bushings, strongflex fsb bushings (although still stock fsb), brand new Indy 500 tires, and said STI Genome strut bar. The response is quicker, more direct, less roll, less slop if I can use that term. It is noticable and I don’t feel more of the bumps or nvh as some speak of in regards to steering feel. But I would like to look at the steering lockdown from Perrin just to tighten up the feel a little more. Endlinks and all tie-rods and ball joints are nice and tight.

On another note, how do you add your build under your comments as some members have?

  2. "What is the STI Flexible Tower Bar?

STI believes that it is important to improve road-holding abilities of wheels in order to allow the driver to control the car much like an extension of their own body. The Flexible Tower Bar is an STI original product which has been developed to achieve such a goal. Unlike a conventional rigid bar, the Flexible Tower Bar is split and joined with pillow ball joints in the center to be longitudinally mobile while helping laterally stiffen the body of the car.

Different from a rigid bar which is designed just to increase rigidity of the body of a car, the concept behind this bar is to constantly enhance traction of the wheels by strongly holding in a transverse direction at the same time as moderately handling the impact from the ground, in order to realize a ‘flexible yet elegant driving feel’.

As a result, responsiveness at the time of steering improves without compromising comfort, which allows the driver to actually feel that the car can turn as intended, and when they want to go straight, it provides a stable drive without too much impact from uneven road surfaces. As described, this product will further deepen your pleasure of driving."

I kinda get it, but not really at the same time...

Thx. I also kind of understand when I visualize a hard cornering in my head but hard to grasp. Anyway, when I got there (a japanese importer shop in Montreal, Quebec) after a 20 min drive it was for an STI v10 so it was a no go. But after a while he found an STI Genome rigid strut bar for my Legacy and fit like a glove. I could not know the difference between fleixible and rigid but this rigid one is day and night between not having one! Go with rigid is what I say. I also asked him for parts for S402 or other jdm stuff since I’m looking for jdm radio console and battery cover. However, with Covid their visas are on hiatus so business is slow for now but I’ll check with one of the eight other importers in that area for jdm goodies. Saw a nice set of STI Brembo complete brake kit but at $1500 cdn I’ll wait a bit but it was tempting as hell!

  3. I have the 20mm Whiteline RSB and Moog end links on my wagon, no issues here. Are you sure it’s tapping the control arm? If the end links are even a little bit loose they will make a knocking noise. Try tightening the end links up again first. If they were hitting the control arm, I’d think you’d have bigger issues.

Thx. Everthing seemed nice and tight when I put in coilovers but I will take another look at the issue when I switch for my winter rims.

  4. 04 STI on RockAuto. These are the Powerstop branded calipers.

On a side note. I have been working on getting the Castrol Wrap on my ST205 Celica. About 85% done. What a process. My buddy helping me has a pretty nice ABP wagon that I built the motor for.

I figured when I went on the site. Saw the powerstop and centric ones. Just wasn’t sure. Thx for confirming.

    Awesome celica btw.

  5. Found some original Spec.B rims in great condition, wrapped them in Indy 500. Previous owner probably got run into and insuranced scrapped them. Got the Fast Attack wheels off that they put Champiro gt, what a difference!! But in one or two months the hakka 9’s are going on for the winter.

Side note: anybody here have a 20mm whiteline rsb on lgt or spec b? It seems to rub or slightly tap bottom of upper trailing arm on pass side. I put Moog endlinks to beef it up but I think they are too long. Anybody have this issue? I heard putting STI endlinks resolves length issue since they are shorter. Any input? Thanks

  6. Interested in how it turns out. My car is in desperate need of a paint job but I'm probably going to outsource it down the line.

I have the same problem. Each side of the scoop the clear has peeled due to bad repairs/repaint after fender bender with one of the previous owners. I could basically spray paint flames, the peeling kinda looks like the flame pattern on an old firebird lol!! I opted to wrap it instead since the cost to do full a repaint will be only in a year or two. A few nicks and dents/scratches, again poor maintenance and negligence from precious owners.

The wrap I’m installing is vvivid’s black satin matt. We’ll see how it turns out on DGM. Only temporary anyways. It’s better than the skin cancer that’s on it now. Got alot of sanding to do, will update with pics.

  7. Oh might as well post here too!! Sorry for repeating. Just saw this thread after posting on DGM thread. Just got the car last year so go easy on me. Body is in the shape I got it in except for my exterior upgrades. Megan Racing coil overs, yes I plastidipped my rims, not my favorite. Just bought original Spec.B 18'' on kijiji, might powder coat them, don't know yet. Yes I put a Nordschleife decal, I had to! Just wished it was darker but hey! Actually got a lot of pos comments about it and one guy wanted one lol! Mud flaps painted and new install hardware, rear PU lip painted and 3m two way tape and custom grill DIY done two weeks ago. Front lip is next.

  8. Finally trying to upload my pics. Let's see if I'm doing this correctly. Don't mind the clearcoat on the hood. Satin Black wrap on its way as well as front lip. Just got the car so one project at a time!! Sorry for pic quality, was a spur of the moment pic shoot with my 8 yr old son behind camera phone, lol. He's not bad! Custom grill DIY amazon $14 aluminium blk mesh and a Dremel, lol.

  9. Any thoughts on airduct installed P3 gauges? Anybody using it? Looking at it as an option since my tuner says Cobb can’t be used anymore after my tune. No Cobb dealers near me so not alot of alternatives. Was using AP as monitoring\gauges. wwwP3gauges.com. They seem nice and complete but just one screen at a time. Also, it doesn’t state if it fits in Legacys. So anyone running one of these?
  10. Sorry the file was not attached to my post, noob mistake. I hear what you say Notorious!

Tune on the way very soon meanwhile no boost and on snail mode on SI Drive. I have Vf52 obviously, catless dp, tbe 3'', perrin turbo inlet, AEM 340lph fuel pump, new fluids and spark plugs, k&N panel filter and Cobb stg2 91oct OTS. Was just curious about the numbers compared to datalog pre-swap. Seemed consistent. Are you able to open file, as I am new here not sure I did it correctly. I still don' know how to post pics. It's an Excel. Thx

  11. I went for a drive today and creeping out of a red light feedback knock went down to -7! then stayed at 0 all the back home, non-spirited driving. No rattles or whatsoever loose, so the ride after decided to punch it and datalog a small 3rd WOT pull, (cause I'm a scaredy cat, I have stg 2 91oct with vf52 swap but probably need a tune for security) Here is the excel file. Any issues or am I safe until protune coming soon?

  12. *UPDATE* Spec. B is up and running but took some time. Shipping from the US was long as I usually cross over to pickup but with pandemic going on I can’t cross without quaranteen.

    Here’s this summer’s mods;

    Perrin turbo inlet blue

Perrin brake cozy (had to fill my cart for free shipping, was missing like $3 so I bought it)

Samco bpv hose blue (get the wrx its longer and less of a fight to connect to TI and no need to remove intake)

    Samco tmic coupler blue

    All vacuum hoses blue (siliconehoses.com)

    Whiteline 20mm adj rsb

    Whiteline 6mt shifter bushings

Moog rear endlinks, they’re beefier than stock

    Strongflex rsb poly bushings sport

Avo rsb support brackets, a must!!

Ngk sparkplugs LFR6AIX, didn’t want one step colder

Mishimoto t-bolt clamps, and fuel injector clamps to replace all worm clamps and oem tiny tie wraps on vac lines, that’s why this whole endeavor started, the oem worm clamp ripped oem turbo inlet!

    Vf52 with ported wastegate

Invidia divorced dp with DEI titanium wrap

    AEM 340lph fuel pump

Grimmspeed flange adapter for DP, not really a mod but...

Custom made front grill delete, kinda looks like JDM Spec. B

Trunk duckbill lip, however I couldn’t do a decent paint job to save my life but you can’t see imperfections at 120kph!

Oem mud guards found at kenny upull, painted and found ss steel mounting hardware. I didn’t want rally armour look

    Goodridge ss clutch line

JDM ABS cover for powersteering reservoir

    Thermal Zero blue turbo blanket

    Muteki steel lugs black

Cobb caps, 1.1 and 1.3 bar

Cobb stg2 91oct map, until I get protune

Royal Purple rear diff and tranny fluid change

ATE Type 200 DOT4 complete brake fluid and clutch fluid flush

    Mods done last summer;

    Megan racing coilovers

Strongflex front swaybar bushings sport, and rear diff rear subframe bushings sport

Prothane steering rack, front control arm and rear diff cradlemount poly bushings

    K&N panel air filter

    K&N cabin air filter

    SPT catback

    Cobb exhaust hangers

And for icing on the cake, when all this was said and done and ready for coolant bleed I checked around to see if any leaks or what not and found that my AVCS feed line was leaking from the underside in the rear of the head before flare, hard to notice so I lost about 2-3 oz of oil directly on heat wrapped uppipe, Great! So add IAG AVCS SS oil feed line to the list AND a week, AND I had to rip everything I just put in to acces under intake UGH!! However, it only took me about an hour and a half all replaced and put back in ready to prime feed line. Oh the smoke show when I started her up! I did a few cycles and two or three short rides until oil consumed itself and ended up doing an engine shampoo anyways. No more smoke or smell.

I am not posting this to brag or anything just to express the fact I’ve waited a long time to finally practice a passion and enjoy the work and learning experience. Alot of it due to you guys and this forum, and the vacation pics:). I used to be a Ford guy, well still am, 2015 Edge Sport, but I had alot of Fords back in the day including a 2001 Mustang Bullitt, hence my nick. However, even though I haven’t posted that much or asked a ton of questions, I read ALOT from here. For the few instances where I probably asked dumbass noob questions you guys always gave me a pro answer. This forum and family is worth more than gold. Thank you

Now how the hell do you put pics up in here?

Merci beaucoup from your cousin up in french country up north, or east if your already in maple syrup land!

  13. I REALLY want to install my 08 front end swap. Like the lines so much better and everything's sitting there just looking at me, but torn on what to do with the colors.

-Professional wrap to match RBP, quoted $550 for fenders and bumper.

-Save up and wrap/paint/swap the whole thing when ready.

-Swap it anyway, RBP and DGM. I probably drive it 150 miles a month these days, and save up.

Hope you have the hood too cause my buddy did the same thing and then realized ‘05 to ‘07 hood not the same as ‘08-‘09 near the top of the grill. It dips more on each side of grill on 08-09 apparently.

  14. Do you know if they had to remove your dash for the second recall? I have driver temp actuator in-hand and would like them to put it in.

Got my pass airbag recall in july and they had to pull dash. They inspect first hand for cracks and normal “petina” but when they put mine back you could see the prying locations where he used a blunt object around top air vents and nav. Wasn’t very happy but all in all was an ok job albight they didn’t clean inside windshield. Had marks of dash rubbing etc.
