  1. This is by far my favorite shot of a fifth gen gt, love this!!
  2. Also, what's your favorite memory with the car? Sent from my BV4900 using Tapatalk
  3. Sorry to hear everything went south! As someone about to do the head gaskets, may I ask what happened? Sent from my BV4900 using Tapatalk
  4. Yep, they've gone down to 350 in the past, which I think is half off. Definitely wait for black Friday for an accessport if you can. Not sure if they're doing the sale again but they've done it the last two years at least so I assume so Sent from my BV4900 using Tapatalk
  5. I know Cobb accessports usually are heavily discounted for black Friday, are there any other good go to sites/deals for our cars? Sent from my BV4900 using Tapatalk
  6. Mine have gone as well. 3010 legacy gt, driving another car now and saving for the rebuild. Similar coolant bubbling issues and then overheating, tried other fixes before realizing it's the hgs. I need to search here and on FB more, but any tips on other things to replace at the same time for longetivity? Sent from my BV4900 using Tapatalk Edit: 2010 lol. Also have 160k miles
  7. Thank you all so much for the advice/help! I called around for quotes on the gaskets and was quoted the lowest at 2700 and the highest at 4200, and one shop quoting as high as 12-14k as they suggested at the age of the engine I might need a new small block as well. Right now, I can borrow a friend's car when I absolutely need one, and can bus around otherwise for a bit, so I am hoping to save up for the 2700 option and try to go that route soon. I also reached out to carvana and was only offered like $500, most likely due to the 6mt and that I indicated it wasn't in great condition due to the head gaskets. If I indicated a higher/better condition, I'm sure I would have gotten a higher quote, but I doubt it would have been too high. So, definitely planning on keeping her, or at least trying to for a couple of weeks and then I will re-assess then. Thanks for all the help! NVAKeith, the issue you're describing is exactly what my issue seems to be, so I am hoping just getting the headgaskets fixed will fix the issue entirely. Otherwise, the car is in pretty great shape except for the hood fading, so I am definitely hoping to keep her for awhile. Thanks again!
  8. Hey all, so I have a 2010 legacy gt with around 160,000 miles on it. Car started overheating and I replaced the radiator with an aftermarket radiator. Car was fine for a few months, but recently started overheating again. I did a coolant flush and burped the radiator. When burping the radiator, white foam came out of the radiator which makes me think head gaskets, and possibly even the block are shot. I am in a very bad place financially so I won't be able to get the car fixed and what I'm wondering is, what is the best way to get some amount of money for the car? Do I part it out? Do I sell it to a junkyard? Do I post it on fb marketplace and hope someone is interested in an older car that may or may not blow the next time it's driven? I'm not going to sell it to someone and lie about its condition, so any tips on getting the most for a car while still being honest would be helpful. If I could, I'd keep the car and have her fixed down the line, but I don't think I'll be able to do that right now. Any tips/advice would be helpful. Additionally, I have a set of Bilstein Coilovers for our cars - I bought them off of a member on this forum who said that he had them recently rebuilt, however I doubt this, as the front driver side coilover would clunk most of the time I had them installed from day 1. The handling/feeling of the car with them on was absolutely incredible. They rode better than stock for comfort, and better than any other car I've been in for sportiness - It felt similar to driving an older m3 - very taught/level/sporty suspension, but also very comfortable and soaked up bumps. I ended up taking them off and putting the stock suspension back on due to the clunking noise. If anyone is interested in that set as well, or has any tips for this situation, please let me know. Thanks.
  9. Installed the Koyorad radiator and drove around in pure bliss knowing my engine was no longer running too hot.
  10. I'd love to hear more comparisons as well. Love the fifth gen, however I would also love a spec.b one day. Whenever I'm wondering about the three I look at this comparison chart which shows how much larger the living spaces/luggage spaces are for the fifth gen versus the previous legacy and the 2015 wrx. I was intrigued to read that the 15+wrx has more road noise than the previous legacy spec.b. My friend has a 2018 Forester and road noise is very limited in that, so I figured road noise in the 15+ wrx' would be similarly low level. https://www.cars.com/research/compare/?acodes=USC00SUC011E0,USC50SUC171C0,USB90SUC011D0
  11. Ah nice! I've seen this car on instagram a few times and it looks amazing!! Very nice work! I'm excited to see the continual evolution of this car.
  12. Do you have any videos of this? Would love to hear your setup and also to see the prodrive mufflers!
  13. Cryo, damn, but that's still awesome to know you had one, I'll have to visit your build thread. Eventually you will meet my car to tune, I hope, but unfortunately I got screwed over by a shop that installed a new clutch and within a year its started to fail, and believe me I'm easy on it. Next car funds have to go to that and a new radiator. But one day. Love the car. Sent from my G8441 using Tapatalk
  14. Loved reading through this thread and seeing the range of people who love these cars. 2010 Legacy GT Limited - Graphite Grey Metallic Male - 30 Mental Health Counselor Third Subaru so far. Previous Subarus included a mostly stock 2000 2.5rs and a completely stock 2005 2.5rs. Love the Legacy. Mods: 20mm WRX rsb, Perrin Shifter Bushing, Bilstein Coilovers (currently uninstalled due to clunk) Goals: Access Port, Koyorad radiator, verticooler, other suspension upgrades..etc.,
  15. Someone posted a first gen red legacy turbo sedan on facebook marketplace yesterday and it was gone in 2 hours. Jump on this if you still have the option! I would imagine even if you just re-sold it on here, you could likely make a bit on the sale.
  16. Bring back the bbqs! I joined this forum a bit late it seems. Still such a great resource for information.
  17. Congrats on selling the car and finding a good home for her! I can't thank you enough for the knowledge you've provided on this site. I have only owned my gt for a year, but have already learned a lot from long term members like yourself. Good luck with the future car endeavors and I hope you make your way back into a legacy one day!
  18. First big snow of the year the last few days and figured I'd update the thread on the last year with the car. Last fall, I installed the set of Bilstein Coilovers which were from a member on here. Suspension wise - the car felt incredible. The set had been described as close to a bmw 5 series in sportiness/comfort. I haven't driven a 5 series, but I imagine that suspension was close/maybe better. It was so comfortable and much sportier than anything I had driven previously. I lowered it about 1 and 1/2 inches and even so it did better in certain areas over bumps. There is an area near my house, a left turn, into a right turn, with a couple of hills that if I hit too hard I will bottom out the stock suspension and make a horrible noise (did it accidentally once and never again). Even with the decrease in height with the coilovers, I had no issues here. Additionally, it would be comfortable going over the bumps. The dampening on the coilovers seemed incredible! The car felt like a true sports sedan with the coilovers on and everything felt more direct, without causing the ride to be uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the driver side front coilover (and then rarely each of the other ones) had this horrible noise. Sort of a clunking noise. I looked at it with my mechanic and he also showed that when we raised the car and took weight off the suspension, and then put it back down, the strut would sort of pop the metal out above it leading me to wonder if the issue could be with the top hats or what it could be. Not sure if they need to be rebuilt again or if they just need more grease/lube in certain areas, but I took them off for fear of causing harm to the car. Eventually I will get back to trying to get that set on the car because it felt amazing, just sounded terrifying/bad. At some point I installed the perrin brass shifter bushing which was a night and day difference, making the shifter feel quite nice afterwards. I went for a couple of months with rarely driving due to the pandemic, however when I did get to drive, I was able to enjoy it more. No issues with the car, just a lot of fun until she started overheating in June or July. Ended up replacing the thermostat and the radiator hoses and the issue went away. This resulted in me getting an OBDII reader which is so nice to have. Additionally, I will be replacing my radiator with the koyorad as soon as possible to help alleviate future cooling issues. Around this time I also fixed the lumbar support which was a nice fix. I'm working on getting some foam to make the seats more supportive as well, but haven't gotten around to that yet. When I had the clutch done last year, the car developed a sort of chirp when the clutch pedal was out, so in neutral and in gear. Whenever the clutch was depressed, even just a little, the chirping noise would disappear. I contacted the shop that did the clutch and they said that my clutch fork pivot needed to be lubricated and that I should bring it to them to have that done. I did that and the problem was fixed for about a month, then returned, and would come and go seemingly randomly for about half a year. Then a couple of weeks ago the sound came back much stronger so I had the shop lubricate the same part again, and the problem was fixed up until about a week ago (right when it started getting colder). So, I believe I need to replace my clutch fork eventually and plan to do so with the versus/billet forged clutch fork in hopes that will resolve the issue. That said, due to the install requiring dropping the trans, I will be waiting on this fix, unless the issue can cause actual damage, but it seems to just be an annoying noise at the moment. It's so odd though, I've had 2 other manual subarus and neither had this clutch fork lubrication problem. I wonder if my clutch fork needed to be replaced when the clutch was done and it just didn't get done then. In any case, I'm excited in the long term to get that fixed. Today I took her for a drive in the snow and to pickup a 20mm 15+ wrx rsb from fb marketplace. I haven't installed it yet, but am very excited to. Driving in the snow was a blast as well. Love the combination of snow capability, sportiness, and comfort/luxury with the heated seats. It's taking some time getting some things figured out with this car, but overall it's the best Subaru I've ever owned and couldn't ask for more.
  19. I don't have any answers, just wanted to say sorry for your car and the raccoon! Best of luck with the repairs! Also, if you end up needing a new radiator, the koyorad one is pretty cheap through amazon right now.
  20. Welcome and congratulations on the car! That thread is just for 2012s. I think the production numbers are roughly as follows: 2010 - 1400, 2011 - 300, 2012 - 227. For more info, like color/model type break down, this thread is where to look: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/5th-gen-production-numbers-194527.html?t=194527&highlight=production+numbers
  21. Finally fixed my lumbar support and cleaned/detailed/conditioned the interior. Felt like a brand new car driving it. For anyone waiting on the lumbar support fix, do it now! It's fast and easy.
  22. Hello! Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm wondering if anyone who purchased these, or the black bilstein gt works suspension, is looking to sell theirs? Also, for both of these suspensions, are they rebuildable?
  23. Hey all, reviving this because it seems the most relevant place to post. I just installed a set of Bilstein coilovers on a 2010 legacy gt and seem to be having the exact issue described here. I love the suspension feel, and if it wasn't for the sound, wouldn't have any concerns, but since install, the car makes clunks, pops, and twangs from the front left area. I'm wondering if anyone has any success getting rid of the noise? The person I purchased them from had them on an outback, lowered, and didn't have the noise issues. I'm wondering if outbacks have a different setup that prevents the noise from happening? If that's the case, can we adapt ours?
