  1. I'm obviously in the minority here since my Legacy Limited is a 2018 without the stop-start feature that's apparently standard in the 2020 Legacy.

My other vehicle is a 2019 Toyota Prius XLE hybrid that I recently purchased when trading in my 2011 Prius. Six million Prius vehicles have incorporated the stop-start technology since day one in 1997. Frankly, I have enjoyed my Prius experience and love to hear nothing but my own breathing while stopped in traffic.

  2. ...Start-Stop is not really meant to produce any benefit in heavy traffic. In most cases of heavy traffic due to volume, you'll constantly be inching forward a foot or two every few seconds.. Its really beneficial in scenarios when the traffic infrastructure is properly set up and you are stopped at a light and you'll sit there for 2 minutes till the light flips, or even better when you are at a light on an small street intersecting a main arterial ave where you'd wait for 3-4 minutes before the light flips....

Sorry, but I'm late to this February discussion here in July.

However, since I've been driving my 2011 Prius since 2012, I truly miss it's stop-start feature while driving my wife's 2018 Legacy Limited. The silence at stops is golden. In stop and go traffic the engine doesn't even turn on unless you press too hard on the accelerator. Electricity does that job in hybrids. That is the major benefit in heavy traffic. That's also why you see so many Prius taxis and Ubers.

  3. .....I test drove a 2017 3.6R. It was a fun car but the one I took for a test drive had eyesight and lane assist. It kept flashing lights at me whenever a car traveling the opposite direction was techically in my blind spot....

Sorry, but I'm late to this forum and this, my 2019 post, is responding to one from 2017. However, it is impossible for anyone to get a blindspot warning from a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction from your own. Blindspot warnings can only be triggered when a vehicle is approaching from the rear of your vehicle.
