  1. Is the stock tune for an 08 LGT set for 93 octane? Locally we get both 91 and 93 and no issues with spending a bit more for the 93 but would rather avoid it if its not going to affect the engine at all. I used to run 91 in my stock 03 Civic until I learned better.

Also, any reason to run a tune on a completely stock car? Will I see any noticeable difference in power or fuel consumption?

  2. 08 LGT 5EAT with a little over 151,000 km (I'll let you convert to metric if you care). Only had the car for a few months but outside of pain chips on the hood, door dings from parking lots the and two odd pencil sized holes on the leather by door handles its in great condition. No rust as of yet (surprising as it came from Alberta, land of the rising snow). Really enjoying the car so far.

My question is what else am I missing? It looks well cared for and not beat on. price is 8500. any help is appreciated.

For an 05 that is a big price. Unless there are a bunch of bolt-ons (which comes with its own potential issues) there is no no reason they should be asking that price considering what other Legacy’s are out there (me being assumptive as most local Craigslists I’ve looked at have a bunch of them). I have an 08 local for $7500 USD. with similar things done. Unless you are desperate, keep looking and something will show up.

  4. 08 LGT and first time it's seen rain since I bought it. Went out this morning and felt a few drips on my left leg. Drove to work thinking maybe some just got in when I opened the door but when I checked the mat it was fairly wet. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and might have a solution? I was planning on just running a hose on the front of the car and following where the water comes in.
  5. a VTA valve will cause the car to run rich when lifting off the throttle if the ECU isnt tuned to account for the vented air. Thats why they make 50/50 valves.

Found a few posts stating the same thing when I searched more on the forum. Will likely run an adjustable BOV that can fully open/close and everywhere in between to account for this. Thanks for the reply

  6. Welcome, rims look mint. Any history on it?

Thanks all. 2008 GT, bone stock as far as I can tell. Interior is mint outside of a weird gouge on the passenger door by the handle. Carfax reveals nothing out of the ordinary. Looks to be regularly maintained. Less than 24 hours with the car so getting used to some squeaks (something in the headliner/sunroof rattles under acceleration, vibrations on steering wheel under hard throttle). Waiting for a dry day to figure out the limits of daily driving.

    Any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated.

  7. Thanks for the reply. I noticed the 6 cylinder error as well but I won't harp on them too much since its not a dedicated Subaru dealership. If they can offer a good warranty for a good price I'm in. Otherwise I'll continue on and take a VW CC for a test drive... :barf
  8. Thank you for the honesty all. I've only had one unreliable car in the family (01 GTI...and yup, turbo issues) and I'm looking to avoid that again. If I can get a good warranty (1 year or more) then I may still bite as I usually keep cars for 2 years or so. I've only had small hot hatches/sedans so this would be my first larger car. Love the idea of having something rare on the road but then the $$$ warnings start blaring in my mind.
  9. 10 years and I’ve only had Mitsubishi’s. Just sold my 09 Ralliart and now looking for something else. 2008 Legacy GT just came up for sale. Brand new to the world of Subaru’s so just wondering what I should be ok the lookout for. 93,000 miles/150,000km and they are asking $7300 US/$9900 CAD. Used car lot and it comes with warranty (not sure what it covers but I imagine it’s a 3 month power train warranty). What should I know/do if I like it after a test drive? What should I look for? If I get a Subarudealership to inspect it what should I really get them to test out? Thanks for any info.
