  1. My 2018 3.6 had a small crack in the drivers seat (left bolster) and over the past 2+ years has slowly turned into a pretty large tear. Basically where the the side of your left thigh would touch on the seat. I cannot see how this can possibly be repaired, so has anyone else gone through replacing the lower seat cover before? The dealer has literally harassed me to buy back my car, but i just want the rip fixed at this point.
  2. I love my '19 3.6R, white with black interior. Perfect combination of performance and utility. It's also a great looking car. No real problems, although it was delivered with a couple small dents in the door. Dent Doctor at the dealer took care of that. I'm 99% satisfied with my decision to buy it.

The only thing I do not like is that it has no "Oil life monitor", which based on type of driving, time, and mileage will tell you when to change the oil. The last two cars I had (Ford Fusions) had this feature. I was rather surprised that Subaru does not offer this feature.

In the service section in the star link options you can add maintenance periods that will pop up when you hit a certain date or mileage. I’ve been using it for oil changes and it’s really convenient!

  3. I have the 2018 version which is literally the same vehicle. It’s not a rocket ship but it’s adequate with acceleration. After fixing my nightmare radio issues I now really love my car. Yes I wish I had the 2020 but I got such a great deal it was worth it. The eyesight system is pretty good and the safety features are good, especially the blind spot system.

I would suggest getting a set of winter tires as the stock all seasons are not too good compared to most other available types.

  4. The title to this thread ("Korean cars are the most reliable") is not a valid conclusion from this JD Powers survey.

This survey measures how "perfect" the cars are when coming off the manufacturing line, and has more to do with quality control than quality of the engineering that goes into making a car 'reliable'.

Even JD Powers 'long term reliability' survey's only extend through the first three years of ownership, hardly what many of us would consider "long term".

Exactly. Plus, many people lease their vehicles which is usually a 3-year. "reliable" is meaningless in that short period. 3 years is usually within the warranty window, too for many car companies.

I would say the ratings would be more fair if you put it into a 5 year window.

  5. I had to have my car towed today because on the dash the park indicator was blinking and the Brake indicator was solid, with messages Eyesight Off Check Manual and Electronic Parking Brake Check Owner's Manual. The Electronic brake button by the shifter wasn't necessarily lit, I restarted the car and tried the button, and sometimes it was on and sometime off, but the dash indicators were the same.

I saw there was a recall specific to the 2015 model year. Has anyone with a 2016 or newer ever experienced this? Anyone, in any year who experienced this, what was the result, and was it resolved swiftly?

Since it isn't a recall for the 2016 year, how do I report it to have it registered?

It was for 2010-2014 models and only with the manual transmission. When I was getting the head unit replaced a few days ago, another person had this issue fixed and I overheard the tech explaining it. Didn’t catch the price.
