  1. Would it still be recommended to remove heads and put the studs in while motor is out? It is more work that at this point mat not be needed but might be worth it overall
  2. Obviously oil is coming in through the turbo intake, PCV? With both front cylinders being only 2% and both rears being ~8% Does this seems normal? I could see 1 cylinder being off and knowing that is the cause, but both rears almost identical. Does this implement a tear down and rebuild? The turbo once off does have the slightest movement but I feel not enough to say its bad
  3. Finally got the motor pulled and did a leak down test. Drivers side, front 2% rear 9% http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x113/KRYPTO_album/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0809.jpg Passenger side, front 2% rear 7% http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x113/KRYPTO_album/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0808.jpg Turbo inlet http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x113/KRYPTO_album/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0815.jpg Turbo intake Turbo Exhaust http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x113/KRYPTO_album/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0817_1.jpg Throttle Body http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x113/KRYPTO_album/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0811.jpg Intake Runners http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x113/KRYPTO_album/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0818.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x113/KRYPTO_album/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0820.jpg
  4. From what I read quick sounds like most use stock plugs and some 1step colder. Any benefits to the colder or stick with stock?
  5. Just got done pulling intercooler and downpipe. No oil in downpipe, and just a little in intercooler. Checked shaft play on turbo... Nothing.... Now to perform leak down test ugh
  6. ceramic coating would be the ideal solution just under heat shields with high heat insulation
  7. Thanks, I'll have to see what mileage I have on timing components since last done. The stock lines and feed locations are still fine? BNR site he recommends feeding directly from oil filter location.
  8. Can you only remove that banjo bolt that's behind timing cover by removing the WHOLE assembly? Can I reuse timing belt and components?
  9. well crap, wish I was on the forum before I bought all this junk
  10. What size injectors minimum would be recommended for the AVO420 turbo if I run pump instead of e85 on stock motor? Would I be able to safely run around that 300whp with that and pump?
  11. That's what I don't like about the vf46 right now. It hits in hard down low in 2nd and 3rd but at higher rpm and freeway speeds I got nothing. That's why originally was going with e85 so I could run a larger turbo safer
  12. I was messaging you earlier today on Facebook about what to do. With not wanting to go above 300whp and limited funds for proper supporting mods or replacing the motor I'm still unsure if this is the right route to go. Local shop told me this turbo is not street friendly and would be better off with a vf52
  13. Turbo has about 90k on it. seals are bad and blowing oil/smoke out exhaust. Car also fluctuates in power and sometimes doesn't produce the set psi
  14. Wouldn't e85 provide a safer tune at higher power levels with less chance of detonation and knock? The tuner would dial the power down to be in the "safe zone"? More power, more boost. Less power, less boost without getting all technical
  15. I'm located in St. Cloud, MN Can a leak down and compression test be performed with the motor out? Just bolt the starter on and let er buck on the stand
  16. Just finished reading through your thread You mentioned most Subaru owners tune through only 2 tuners. I'm sure Mike at Tuning Alliance is 1st choice, who would be 2nd?
  17. Thanks for the input, I'll look into getting head studs. Should be safe to swap one bolt at a time vs removing heads to do? As for oil, is there anything else to do other then the screens? stock feed locations and lines are fine? How about oil pump and pick-up tube I've heard talk about?
  18. Yeah I was thinking 300whp as my cap. I already have the intake so use what I have (at least turbo sounds are nice ) 28pages its going to be a busy night
  19. I'm in need of a clutch and turbo, so why not just pull the motor and fix some oil leaks and stuff In the process of maxing out the stock components so will be upgrading turbo, TMIC, and running e85 While I have the motor out is there any maintenance or trouble areas I should look at or address? I was thinking I might want to do head studs but idk if that would be worth it as I want to stay with a conservative tune and try to keep somewhat of a reliable power level. What are the stock safely limits??? Mods as of now are Cold air intake Catless Downpipe EBCS ACP pro tune. I'll be adding 18g TMIC TGV deletes Turbo inlet 1050cc injectors 340lph pump e85
