  1. SOLD Year, Make and Model: 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited Sedan Color: Garnet Red Pearl Miles: 90,000 Transmission: 5MT Title: Clean Lien: None Location: Brooklyn(NYC), NY VIN: 4S3BL676356214613 Seller's email address: Tovarish1013@gmail.com Asking Price: $3,000 OBO I bought this Legacy on these forums back in 2010 when she had ~40k miles. She has served me well but unfortunately has fallen into a state of disrepair since she's been standing from when COVID hit. I want to move on to a new car so hoping to find someone with time and skills to dedicate to restoring her. I'm a pretty spirited driver but nothing extreme. Never been to a race track or dragged anyone. More than half of the 50k miles I put on her have been highway miles. Rest are a mix of street and NYC parkway miles usually spent in traffic. I only used Premium gasoline and Motul Synthetic Oil. Rust The main problem with it is the rusted out bottom. The exhaust pipe joints have already broken apart in several places due to rust. The car can be driven carefully locally but needs a trailer for long trips as it is not safe to be driven on the highway. The catalytic converter and sensor are still good as there was no CEL when I took it for oil change last year, and yes I drove around enough for ECU to catch it. Still, the joints around the cat pipe are all rusted so will need to either weld on new joints or get a whole new system. The rust is rather pervasive, seemingly affecting car's handling. Besides the exhaust it will most likely need new control arms, ball joints, suspension, rear sway bar, etc. See photos, and make your own judgement. Other Issues Cracked windshield Driver door does not open from outside No AC Belt AC compressor harness needs to be replaced (Part# 73152AG000 ~ $50). I haven't had AC in years so no idea if it's the only thing that needs fixing to get it working. Burns a bit of oil. I don't remember exactly how much but remember having to add a bit between oil changes. Slight dent in the rear driver side door. Lots of scratches as shown in pictures. Unique design was handcrafted personally by my 2 year old with a rock. Some are are deep but most seem very light and feel like they can be buffed out. Cut in the rear seat Leather cover around the handbrake handle keeps coming off, very annoying. Front Left tire has a slow leak. Loses about 10 PSI over months. Has to be a bad valve as the same problem persisted through a tire change. Other considerations Last mechanic that changed my oil suggested that clutch might need replacing soon as it engages late, but I didn't feel it. It's overdue for a tune up - spark plugs etc. I changed the timing belt some years back at ~60k miles. Changed because the car was standing without being started for ~4-5 years and I was afraid it had dry rotted. Changed at AZP Installs. Some Pros Brand new battery. Not even installed yet. New Alternator belt. The tires have probably less than 1k miles on them so unless they deformed from the car standing, they're practically new. Purchased in ~2019. I have another set of 4 winter wheels I'm willing to throw in for free. Haven't used them since moving back to NYC and switching to all season tires. From what I remember, they had an issue with vibration or noise at high speed. Mechanic at the time suggested one may be dented but I haven't been able to find any deformity. Feel free to leave questions, comments, suggestions and of course your offers. Thank you for your time!
  2. I've actually grown to really like the new WRX. What is the issue with it other than the controversial styling and relatively low power? Also been a 2nd hand owner all my life. Kinda looking forward to owning a new car and for me there really aren't any options other than the WRX. Thanks for the suggestions about the sites. I'd list it here but honestly have no idea how to price the car. I've looked at previously sold listings and they're all over the place. Can you list it without a price and just take offers that you can accept or reject?
  3. Haha, yeah, the scratches are the result of my 2 year old's artistic endeavor with a small rock. I also think most of them can be buffed out except a couple of places where they seem rather deep. You guys almost making me feel like fixing and keeping the car, but the wife would not approve. I am planning on getting the new WRX after I sell this. I need to find a shop around Brooklyn that does welding and deals with with rust I guess. See what they say. I haven't bought or sold a car since 2010, so what are some good places to auction off a car? Is Ebay still good?
  4. I think if you open the photos in a new window you can zoom in and see the damage in more detail. I wish it were that simple. The pipe on the end of the cat is rusted and fallen apart. Unless someone can weld on a new end to attach the rest of the exhaust to, you need the entire system. I think cat & sensors are still good since there was no CEL when I drove the car last year. Also the bushings are shot and as far as I know you replace the whole control arms when you replace the bushings. Car handles terribly. Didn't feel comfortable driving it on the highway even before the exhaust fell off. I basically haven't driven the car since start of Covid except took it for an oil and filter change last year. But I'm glad to hear that there could be a way to revive this thing and make it road worthy again. Hopefully someone with the time and will to fix her up sees this. Otherwise I'll let you know
  5. I have an extremely badly rusted out 2005 GT Limited. I've been told to send it to a junkyard because of the rust but I feel bad junking a car with only 90k miles, especially in this crazy car market. I was wondering if it may be worth repairing to sell or better yet sell as is to some enthusiast looking for a project car? Photos included. Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. https://imgur.com/a/JG06b7y
