  1. I bought a SBB Pro and was able to program my own keys for my Subarus and Hondas.

it was like $60 at the time. They are a bit more expensive now but still not too bad. If you have to buy a new immobilizer or change a ECU, it will allow me to re-join the keys to the car. Worth the $60.

    Wow that is crazy cheap!

I bot a XTOOL X100 PAD, which is almost $600CAN. But it does do a lot of other functions.

  2. Interesting. I've had cars sit for over a year and fired right up once a battery is installed.

Maybe the ignition immobilizer antena somehow got damaged?

The immobilizer system consists of key chip, speedo cluster, BIU, ECU, if any of these are changed, it does exactly as your car is doing.

The key is read by the BIU, I'm pretty sure. I have reprogrammed immobilizer on many subaru's.

Again, I'd guess maybe ignition antenna.

Its the white ring around the ignition where the key goes in.

    Also check all fuses.

  3. @fiber_tek

Your 1st pic is of the older style PCV where the PCV is screwed into the intake manifold,

The 2nd pic is of a 2003ish+ style PCV where the PCV is screwed into the block.

The PCV vents can be pulled from the block but it's not necessarily easy, they are pressed in.

I have swapped these before. I was thinking of making a jig to pull them out but never did.

I am surprised you would have had to change oil pump, and pan. That's odd to me.

  4. Subaru engines are not really that reliable. We're not going down this rabbit hole, are we? It's silly to blindly defend their engines. Every F-series Subaru engine suffers from common oil consumption issues as do turbo EJs, and NA EJ's suffer head gasket failure like crazy without any neglect. Every Subaru in my family bar mine has suffered head gasket failure and my shortblock burned a quart every 500 miles by 200K.

OP may have neglected their car, maybe bought a neglected car, sure, but it's silly to turn the other cheek to the problems Subaru engines have.

Have you looked into the common issues with any other manufacturers?

Nothing is good anymore, like they were 15yrs ago.

  5. Hello everyone,

I have an idea on the order of thing on what I need to do, but given I'm now dealing with a turbo motor and dual AVCS system, I might need your help on servicing these gears. I'm on a limited budget and these gears are not cheap.

    .

A 2005 EJ255 does not have dual AVCS. Only STI came with dual AVCS in USDM. If your car has dual AVCS, you may have a JDM EJ20X/Y engine, which was a very common engine used to replace EJ255

  6. i have a question i just replaced my stock up pipe can i sell my stock up pipe like you would a down pipe for the catt or is it something else on my uppipe like a pre cat or something
The early LGT had catted uppipe, but they are not worth very much. I got like $60 for mine. While getting as high as $1320CAD for stock LGT downpipe
