  1. So, I held off on buying anything and took it to my local mechanic so he could double check the code and they symptoms I was having. I guess my car was running on limp mode because I was down a gallon of coolant! He said he got a code for low coolant so added some and cleared the code and the engine doesn't feel like it's about to stall when I come to a stop anymore. Goes to show how accurate AZ's code readers are
  2. I've been getting the P0171 codes for some time now where it comes and goes, especially in the winter. I was never able to pinpoint exactly what the problem was, but it recently came back. I got it checked at AZ today and they said I have the same codes as you and they also recommend a MAF sensor replacement. But before I go spending the $220 it costs for a new MAF did the air fuel sensor fix your problem?
  3. I just purchased a 05 Legacy GT. And while driving it hope this P0171 light came on. After my mechanic chased this problem for quite a while. He finally discovered there was a leak on the underside of the top mount intercooler. Found 1 at junk yard for $75, got it put on the car and the SES light has went out. Hope this helps. 4eb20870924672e087d970d4f130cd2e.jpg

Not me because my car is a non turbo lol, but hopefully someone can find it helpful

  4. Does it provide any information on your receipt on what they installed/updated, such as a software version or a TSB number or anything like that? Did they mention finding anything loose, disconnected, or plugged?

No it doesn't go into detail on the software update. All that it says on the description is that the CEL was inspected and gave the P0171 code and they performed an ECM update. They didn't mention anything about loose hoses or anything either.

  5. Sounds like 5thgencvt might've had tsb 11-160-15 done, there's a pdf about it when I plug that into google. Doesn't hurt to check and see if that's been done brian

Also, did you clean upinside the maf sensor 5thGen? The two little resistors, not the red part on the outside of the maf sensor

Yeah I did it was one of the first things I did along with replacing the air filter but it didn't work for me. I got the check engine light soon after doing that

  6. Update: So I took the car to my local Subaru dealer to get the check engine light checked out and got it fixed. Apparently there is an ECU update for the 5th gen Legacy that they installed and it took care of the check engine light code and stalling issues. It's only been a few days but the car doesn't seem to be stalling anymore, I'll continue to monitor it and post more updates as time goes on.
  7. Hey guys!

I need your help here - I have a 2012 Legacy and have been having this problem when I come to a quick stop the car will shudder and try to shut off. Has anyone else had this issue?? It doesn’t always happen and usually after driving it for 15-20 min it won’t do it anymore. Wondering if I’m the only one that’s experienced this? What could it be? What should I do? Bring to dealer to diagnose? Thanks!

Yeah read my P0171 post from a few days ago, pretty much the same issue I had. I'm guessing the check engine light should come on soon and it'll probably be the same code

  8. Yeah, the car needed some more oomph. Though I'm surprised they weren't able to get more out of it, with 20% more displacement. Was hoping for 20% more HP! I think they got close with torque, which is a good start. The "torque dip" aka the space between the two efficiency peaks (2400-3400 and 4500-6500) has been minimized, but only because the peaks have been lowered, IMO. Still a good improvement in power, while only gaining a few lbs in vehicle weight.

I'm on the fence about on the styling, however...

Yeah the torque dip was a big issue with the last gen BRZ/86, though the new one seems to have a small torque dip in its torque curve (though not as prominent). Styling wise I agree with you, it looks meh imo I'm more excited on the driving experience. Either way I think I'd hold out on buying one until the mid model refresh of the car

  9. It would be best to have someone else do it (a shop who paid for the equipment to test). You're testing to see if you have vacuum everywhere. You might have a hose that let go/disconnected, you might have a pinhole air leak in a hose, you might have an o-ring on a sensor that let go... it goes on.

Thanks! I’ll inspect all the hoses and get that smoke test done. Just have to find who does those in my area

  10. Hi everyone. I have a 2014 Legacy 2.5 premium with about 60,000 miles and I got a check engine light the other day and it came out to be a P0171 code. I was having some drivability issues for a while where the car would run very rough whenever it would come to a stop. Just wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong, I replaced the air filter (with an aftermarket performance filter, not sure if thats a good idea?) after the light came on, the filter was dirty but it wasn't THAT dirty... I also cleaned the MAF sensor with some MAF sensor cleaner. I haven't yet erased the code but I'm wondering if it comes back on any ideas on how I should proceed?
  11. Yeah thats normal, it happens when you disconnect your battery the car basically has to relearn all the fuel trim and throttle mapping. It usually goes away after a few miles of driving when it relearns everything. There are some tricks to reset it after removing the battery though, look up Mr. Subaru on youtube he has some good videos explaining the process. I've tried it it works, hope that helps!
  12. I'm running sylvania xtra visions right now and they've been in for almost 2 years. small improvement over the basic's but no color change. one thing i did this past time (because i've burned through a bunch) was clean the bulbs religiously with isopropyl and a lint free rag.

Yeah I find it odd that they burn out so quickly. My other is a 2011 Camry and I've only had to change the license plate bulbs out so far.
