  1. So, I held off on buying anything and took it to my local mechanic so he could double check the code and they symptoms I was having. I guess my car was running on limp mode because I was down a gallon of coolant! He said he got a code for low coolant so added some and cleared the code and the engine doesn't feel like it's about to stall when I come to a stop anymore. Goes to show how accurate AZ's code readers are
  2. I've been getting the P0171 codes for some time now where it comes and goes, especially in the winter. I was never able to pinpoint exactly what the problem was, but it recently came back. I got it checked at AZ today and they said I have the same codes as you and they also recommend a MAF sensor replacement. But before I go spending the $220 it costs for a new MAF did the air fuel sensor fix your problem?
  3. Not me because my car is a non turbo lol, but hopefully someone can find it helpful
  4. No it doesn't go into detail on the software update. All that it says on the description is that the CEL was inspected and gave the P0171 code and they performed an ECM update. They didn't mention anything about loose hoses or anything either.
  5. Here's hoping! I do wonder what was in that update though...
  6. Basically what Pleides said, it's a software update that they apply to your engine control module. And they only charged me for the visit, so it was $140 for me. Just curious, what year is your car?
  7. Yeah I did it was one of the first things I did along with replacing the air filter but it didn't work for me. I got the check engine light soon after doing that
  8. Update: So I took the car to my local Subaru dealer to get the check engine light checked out and got it fixed. Apparently there is an ECU update for the 5th gen Legacy that they installed and it took care of the check engine light code and stalling issues. It's only been a few days but the car doesn't seem to be stalling anymore, I'll continue to monitor it and post more updates as time goes on.
  9. Yeah read my P0171 post from a few days ago, pretty much the same issue I had. I'm guessing the check engine light should come on soon and it'll probably be the same code link: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/p0171-code-system-too-lean-bank-1-285073.html
  10. Yeah the torque dip was a big issue with the last gen BRZ/86, though the new one seems to have a small torque dip in its torque curve (though not as prominent). Styling wise I agree with you, it looks meh imo I'm more excited on the driving experience. Either way I think I'd hold out on buying one until the mid model refresh of the car
  11. Thanks! I’ll inspect all the hoses and get that smoke test done. Just have to find who does those in my area
  12. Update post update: Check engine light is back on Any ideas on how to proceed? Maybe the aftermarket air filter is the issue, maybe a vacuum leak somewhere?
  13. Not sure how you should proceed but I can say that if you do replace your CVT fluid make sure you use Subaru OEM fluid and nothing more, also make sure the person doing the fluid change knows what they are doing as the front differential drain bolt and CVT drain bolt look similar and are close to each other.
  14. Update: After changing the air filter and cleaning the MAF sensor it seems to be running better. The car doesn't seem to want to stall anymore when stopping so I guess the issue was a dirty MAF, I'll be keeping an eye on how the car behaves for a while.
  15. No no misfire on a particular cylinder but the engine felt like it wanted to stall and vibrate a lot when I would come to a stop. I’d even loose brake pressure sometimes.
  16. Hi everyone. I have a 2014 Legacy 2.5 premium with about 60,000 miles and I got a check engine light the other day and it came out to be a P0171 code. I was having some drivability issues for a while where the car would run very rough whenever it would come to a stop. Just wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong, I replaced the air filter (with an aftermarket performance filter, not sure if thats a good idea?) after the light came on, the filter was dirty but it wasn't THAT dirty... I also cleaned the MAF sensor with some MAF sensor cleaner. I haven't yet erased the code but I'm wondering if it comes back on any ideas on how I should proceed?
  17. Yeah thats normal, it happens when you disconnect your battery the car basically has to relearn all the fuel trim and throttle mapping. It usually goes away after a few miles of driving when it relearns everything. There are some tricks to reset it after removing the battery though, look up Mr. Subaru on youtube he has some good videos explaining the process. I've tried it it works, hope that helps!
  18. I know this might be late but a dirty air filter can cause that and so can a dirty MAF sensor. Did you ever get it resolved?
  19. Ok so I found a set of rears on the Prova website, does anyone have any experience with the rigid collar mod? I know you have to check the cross member bolts for tightness periodically, is it worth it?
  20. Anyone know if Spoon makes Rigid Collars for the rear of the 5th Gen Legacy? I found a set for the front on Japan parts but I can't seem to find the rears.
  21. Yeah I find it odd that they burn out so quickly. My other is a 2011 Camry and I've only had to change the license plate bulbs out so far.
