  1. Mr. Sinister, can you double-check your part numbers? I think you might have the numbers for the main unit and the sensors switched. Also, for anyone else looking to do this, there are more than one type of sensor and it looks like there are a few different part numbers for the main unit as well so make sure you are getting the correct replacement parts before ordering.
  2. I cut the blue/black wire on my '08 yesterday and all works as desired with one exception...the high beams only work with the low beams on. Is this how the stock setup was? I did not notice if this was the case prior to cutting the wire. It's not a big deal, but if say you need to flash on-coming traffic, etc. it may be useful.

To flash the highs on my '07 when the lows are off you have to pull the stalk towards you. If you push it away they don't come on.

  3. so wait, do you keep it detached like that, or did you detach it for the video?

and by the way, wher'd you get that awesome cap for it, makes it look sooo evil like the cyclopse was supposed to come out to battle or something

That's an exhaust cutout. It can be opened or closed from inside the car. When closed the exhaust goes through all the pipes and out the mufflers like it normally would to keep things quiet. When it's opened up the exhaust can exit right after the DP.

  4. I pulled the plug on my 08 legacy 2.5i last night. While it did disable the DRL it also disabled the high beam indicator on my dashboard. This isn't a huge deal to me but if anyone knows what wires to pull from that plug in order to stop only the DRL I would like to do that and still maintain my dashboard function. Thanks.

You have two options. You can either pull the Blue/Black wire out of the plug (or just cut it) and plug it back in, or you can leave it unplugged and insert both ends of a short piece of wire into the end of the plug as a jumper between the fat Red and skinny Green/Red wires. Either way should work.

  5. Hello all, this was helpful, but do you know if it's the same for an 07 outback wagon, ll bean with the H6 engine?

i really would like to purchase and install HID lights but need to disable DRL first.

also, once you do it can you go back?

    thanks everyone

The method for disabling DRL's on an '07 car is different than the method in this thread. You have to disconnect the blue wire with the black stripe that is on the white connector, but leave the connector with the rest of the wires plugged in. Otherwise, your high beams and fog lights won't work. See this thread (especially post #67): http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42292.

  6. Thats weird. My 05 has a light for the highs. So did my 07. I never saw a car that didnt have a warning for the high beams. Maybe there is a light out. Ask the dealer. Because if you flash somone without the warning you have to count to get it back to normal, otherwise you wont know and you will look like an ass.

I cant count when I flash because I am usually pissed when I do it :).

There is a high beam indicator on the '08 cars. However, it gets disabled if the white connector is unplugged to disable the DRL's. See here: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75320.

  7. No, that's a cover, filler, cap... whatever you want to call it...

You can't buy or hold or install a delete...

After looking on NASIOC, it looks like a lot of people call them roof rail delete moldings or trim. I guess after that some people decided they didn't like saying such a long phrase and started simply calling them deletes instead.

  8. Looks to me like it's just invoice pricing, not 2% below...

There are actually different tiers of the VIP program. I posted this link earlier in this thread: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=24228&d=1157857078. According to that, the normal VIP program for employees of Subaru and suppliers/vendors is invoice pricing. The VIP program for members of Subaru partners (the ones listed in Post 1 here) is 2% under invoice. I got my car in October '06 for 2% under invoice and I also got a $150 L.L. Bean gift certificate through the VIP partner program at the time. Of course that was over a year ago, so they could have changed the offer.

  9. it looks like the 08 autos got actual paddle shifters (instead of buttons), cruise buttons instead of , and also got the radio controls.

anyone tried putting one of these in an earlier year?

The paddle shifters are actually part of the steering column. They do not come off when you remove the wheel. I don't know if the other buttons would work, or if the SI-Drive buttons on the outside of the bottom part of the wheel are attached as well.

  10. Hey guys am i dumb, but i think the '08 DRL are the high beam lights?

Well the high beam housing part of the lamps... I dunno.

You are right. Subaru moved the DRL's to the highbeam housing in the '08 cars. I'm not sure it's really even necessary to disable them if you want to install HID's now.

For clarification, the 05-06 models just had DRL's in the low beams. In '07 they had DRL lowbeams and parking lights (front and back). In '08 they changed again to just DRL's in the high beams.

  11. sooo i don't have an LGT, but would like to try this. i LOVE the sound but kinda don't want people to think i'm a ricer since i don't have any performance mods and did the hogzaust only for the sound.

and right now, i'm only doing (cheap but effective) visual mods, and not sure of doing any performance yet cuz i'm just starting college, and i just got the car.

    what do you guys think?

I say try it and see if you like it. It's really easy to put it all back the way it was if you decide you don't.
