  1. I have an 07 LGT. I installed Perrin ELH and as we all know, one mod can necessitate another mod. I learned that there are several areas that need to be shielded. The first one is the AVCS Cam Sensor on the passenger side. I see a product from Verus that should work. If you know of others please let me know.

  2. Reviving my thread with some new questions.

I decided to swap out the head unit for a working model. Guess what, it sounds the same. I looked at the wiring and it is all connected. It’s the front tweeters that are offline in both doors. This is strange since the 6.5” door speakers are working and the tweeters are not.  Does anyone have a good test for the tweeters or advice going forward?

At least I am only out $60 at this point!

Good luck finding a stock unit.  They were $700+ when sold via dealerships.  They are no longer available new.  Not sure I would take the risk on a junk yard part and thats all I see now.  $75-$250.  JDM double din conversion to an aftermarket HU?  Skyline car audio kits were $1k new and I sold my last one back in 2018.

Expecting a better result from a 15+ year old junk yard HU is basically insanity.  They are all past their expected lifespan.  It is the nature of the beast.

I think I’m going to dive into the dash and have a look at connections before I do something stupid. Thanks Mike, message received.

Most likely stock HU and the stock HU is taking a pooh.  Something with channel separation or the output.  Mosfet, leaking capacitor, etc.  Not unusual for audio electronics in the 15+ year old range.

I am sure this is part of it as well. Swapping for a different head unit of the same age would possibly solve it. Not the cheap option but probably not too pricey.

  5. Car is 2007 LGT wagon.
Obviously to have a good soundstage in your car, the front speakers need to be louder than the rear. They used to be that way, until the last six months when the front speakers would drop in volume and return to normal sound again. I do have a Parrot Bluetooth set up on my 07 Legacy GT. It doesn’t matter if the sound is being played through the Parrot Bluetooth or the head unit CD or radio, the speakers in the front still run at reduced volume. That’s where I am today, much quieter speakers in the front. All speakers were replaced with a high-end JBL 3 years ago but I didn’t do anything else to the system. What do you guys think could be the problem? I’m hoping to get some sort of answer before I dig into the dash and check every connection in the system.

  6. I just did an amazing loop in Central Oregon. Basically the whole area east of Prineville Oregon is Canyon lands. There are many small towns linked together by tight canyon roads. Sometimes there isn't even striping on the roads. On the weekends most ranchers are not hauling hay and since we are high desert the bugs have not shown up yet. Here is an image of the loop.

  7. Maybe sourcing a TCU would work. Yes, the TransGo shift kit is going to happen but from what I have read it only increases line pressure which does make the shifts a bit more solid.

The saddest thing about the 5eat is that the shift points are set for fuel economy not performance even when in Sport or Sport# mode. Kinda lame.
I have figured out the timing for shifts with using manual mode by shifting just prior to when I want the next gear. But that’s not a fix for it shifting on its own in the middle of the power band automatically when in manual mode.

I think I am talking myself into the manual trans more and more.

  8. Hey everyone,

While I was cruising around on the STi  website, I discovered that the 2007 Legacy tuned by STi had a special tune for the 5eat TCU. Has anyone else seen this? I have learned to live with the 5eat for now, but if there is a TCU file out there that changes the shift points for performance that would be great. I’m guessing it was a JDM and AUS market only automatic version?

I think this has gone waaaay out of the scope of the OP's question about fitment, and is getting a little bit obdurate.

Shall we start another thread to continue the arguement (discussion?), or maybe take it up in person at the Legacy ECM?

Provided in either case that someone can disagree and not be raged at?

Ha! Yeah it went off the rails a bit.

I’m not a freak about monitoring gauges. Are they dash bling, yes.
In the end it’s not a race car, I like the look of them and my car is super clean. So for me it was a bit dress up with some good quality functioning gauges that showed me the correct values to keep an eye on.
